Description
Waterfront Lodge & Backpackers is Napier’s friendliest budget, hostel accommodation. Centrally located on Napier’s famous tree lined Marine Parade. Waterfront Lodge is a short 5 minute walk from the centre of town and adjacent to Marineland and many of Napier's other major attractions. Opposite the beach, enjoy ocean views and sleep to the sounds of the waves at night.

Watch the fabulous sun rise from our front veranda while enjoying our complimentary coffee and tea or stroll along the beachfront broad-walk.

Our backpackers is set in a wonderful colonial styled building that survived the 1931 earthquake. The Lodge is warm & cozy with a fun, family atmosphere. It has a contagious attitude and will become your ‘home away from home’. We often have large communal diners or BBQ’s where everyone is invited to participate. We find this a great way for people to meet, experiment and experience foods from different cultures.

Visit the gannets, enjoy an art deco walk or simple sample wine at local cellar doors - Napier is the sunshine capital of New Zealand.

Quote from ‘Lonely Planet’…re Napier’s Marine Parade.
“Lined with Norfolk pines and some fine old wooden buildings that survived the quake, Marine Parade has retained the air of an old-fashioned English seaside resort complete with pebble beach.”

Waterfront Lodge & Backpackers Reviews on Other Websites
5 The Waterfront Lodge is one of the only hostels I've stayed at in New Zealand which comes close to the standards of European hostels. Free internet INCLUDING WiFi access (woohoo!), lovely clean rooms with free linen and towels, laid back and relaxed atmosphere, clean bathrooms with decent hot showers, brilliant location, lots of nice outdoor space, sea view and close to town and the supermarkets. Finally, the owner is fantastic, cheers Manni!   — Shona McCulloch (2010-01-28) Hostelbookers

5 i already recommened this location to another backpacker! manny was exceptional in greeting and checking me in, orienting me to the facillities. the next morning the lady at the front desk, i think her name was carole (?) went out of her way to look up a local point of interest listed in the tour book, both managers made me feel very welcome and i can hardly wait for an opportunity to return!   — cindy garcia (2008-11-09) Hostelbookers

5 THE LOCATION   — Customer review (2008-03-28) Hostelbookers
4 Its location and cosy feel was great. Other guests were quite unfriendly though. One woman asked if I could move out of her dorm room because there were enough people in it already, although there was plenty room and an spare bed. She might have been having a bad day, but even so . . . GM   — Customer review (2008-03-21) Hostelbookers
5 This was a good hostel for the price, only comment is that they could do with more cups, mugs and glasses. There were hardly any available.   — Julie Walsh (2008-03-08) Hostelbookers
