Description
For a holiday jam-packed with a diverse range of activities, YHA Bangor, a large, Victorian house just minutes from the town centre, makes a great base. The mountains of Snowdonia are just a 15-minute drive away, offering a range of gentle wanders in the foothills and energetic all-day hikes. There's an awesome array of beaches close by on the Isle of Anglesey and the historic castles at Penrhyn and Caernarfon are within easy visiting distance.
If you are not a member of the Youth Hostel Association or Hostelling International then there is non member supplement of £3.00 (adult) and £1.50 (under-18) per night, or you can purchase membership on arrival. Please bring ID with you.

| Location | •How do you get to this Youth Hostel: • From junction 11 on the A55, take A5 into Bangor. The hostel is the second left after the crematorium. From town centre, take A5 out of Bangor(Beach Road) and the hostel is a right turn just over the brow of the hill(signposted). WALK...1.4 miles, 35 minutes from train station. Taxi good idea for 2 or 3 people(or see bus info). • Bus information: • From Bangor railway station.....Arriva 5 or KMP 9/9A. Mon to Sat daytime up to 6 buses each hour. Evening and Sun roughly hourly. From Llandudno and Conwy.....Arriva 5/5X or KMP 9/9A. From Caernarfon.....Arriva 5/ KMP 9A. From Llanberis.....KMP 9A. From Bethesda and Betws-y-Coed.....Silver Star 6/S6 or Arriva 7/66/67 or Padarn 7/77. • Train information: • Bangor 1.4 miles. On North Wales main line. From Crewe, Chester, and Holyhead....Arriva Trains Wales/Virgin Trains. Monday to Saturday very roughly hourly; Sunday at least every 2 hours, often more frequent. Daily occasional through trains from London Euston, Birmingham New Street, and Manchester Piccadilly/Oxford Road. • Ferry information: • Holyhead 25 miles. From Dun Laoghaire(for Dublin), Stena Line/Irish Ferries.Daily up to 10 crossings. Then rail.... • National Express: • Garth Road bus station 0.75 miles. From the bus station, walk up the hill to the clock tower and turn left on to High Street. Walk to the end of High Street, turn right at the T-junction, and then take the second right up a small lane to the hostel. 20 mins, 1 mile, well-lit and used. |
