Indigo Youth Hostel is a wonderful choice for a stay in Valencia -- it's a very bright, colorful place, with the friendliest staff.
The Location
Indigo Hostel is an easy fifteen- to twenty-minute walk from the train station, and very easy to find. The area is mixed, and not necessarily the safest or the most happening, but it is only a few blocks away from some great bars, flamenco clubs, and excellent authentic restaurants. The buses stop nearby and it's not hard to get to the beaches or anywhere else. The staff are very knowledgeable and great at helping you find your way around.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are very spacious, and they have a variety of rooms on the two floors, from doubles to eight-person dorms with bunk beds. In the summer it does get very hot since there is no AC, but there are fans in the rooms. Each person has a key to the rooms, and there are individual lockers in each room that are large enough to fit a medium sized backpack. There is also a locked luggage storage room where you can leave your bags. The bathrooms and showers are large and cleaned regularly. There are even some private bathrooms.
Common Spaces
The amount of common space is really what makes this hostel so warm and welcoming. The main lobby holds the reception and a couple computers with free internet, and there are extra chairs for people who are waiting. Off of the lobby there is a large and well-equipped kitchen attached to an open lounge area with tables and chairs for casual dining, and some couches with the TV. This is a great place to meet people, since many take advantage of the nearby grocery store to cook their own meals.
Summary
This is a great hostel with a super-friendly vibe.
