Fat Salmon Backpacker's Hostel

Small hostel with friendly, experienced staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Several inexpensive restaurants within a few minutes walk. The town is small and sees few tourists, despite being surrounded by nature. The kitchen may be too small if the hostel is full.

This place is awesome. Chris and Cher definitely go the extra mile to make sure you have the best experience possible. I would stay here again or recommend it to a friend in a second.

Nice space that made me feel very at home, away from home! Great atmosphere. Chris stayed up late with us to watch movies ("Coffee and Cigarettes," hadn't seen it for years) and to drink much beer — it was like being at home again. There's a dog there, Lily, that loves everyone. The sheets were really groovy — Star Wars and Crash Test Dummies. Port Alberni is cooler than I thought it was going to be (Della Falls is a must-see). I stayed for three days longer than I planned. Two thumbs up.
