The Hostelz.com Review
The front door to EastSeven Berlin Hostel is opened by a numerical combination on the keypad. The area around the front desk is very small, but the bedrooms are spacious and clean. You can choose either bunk or normal bed. Key-lockers are inside the room. The cleaning staff will take the towel, so to avoid paying for a new one each day, you must hide it from them in your locker (this is not revealed upon renting the towel).
Laundry is unusual. After handing over your clothes to the staff, they take at least six hours to dry due to backlog, a weak drying machine, and/or ineptitude. They store clothes overnight, so you can get them in the morning.
They have internet access for a fee and there's no breakfast. The hostel has a decent kitchen and common room, and a great outdoor lounge area in the back with wood tables and chairs. The bathroom is near the dorm, and the shower has warm water. There is trendy nightlife at the bars and a few places to eat in the area. Though the hostel is close to a S-Bahn station, it was closed due to construction during our stay and a shuttle bus was operating at times.

Really nice I had a little problem when I arrived in Berlin because my flight from Brazil to Germany delayed an entire day and I had no way to tell the hostel I was going to come late so, naturally, they cancel my booking. However, when I arrived to the EastSeven they made everything to help me; they were not available but they called to other hostels and found a place I could stay. As they were so nice to me, I just stayed one night in the other hostel and I came back to EastSeven. Both hostels were amazing. EastSeven has nice, clean and confortable rooms. The attendant was very helpful all the time. I have no complains ... I recommend this hostel! — Juliana , Brazil (2012-01-03)

Well kept hostel I only stayed here very briefly but found it a good place to stay. It's not right in the centre but is close to a U-Bahn station, so it's easy to get into the centre. The reception staff were helpful, and the dorm was very spacious, clean and in good condition. I didn't use any of the communal facilities, so I can't say anything about them. — Jonathan , England (2011-07-06)

Perfecto Totaly fell in love with this place and the city! Berlin is crazy and beautiful and this hostel is just the right place to be. It's close to the centre, clean, and very relaxed. the friendly staff never got tired of my tons of questions and helped me with everything. Also -- they now seem to offer breakfast and the nice garden in the backyard was fantastic. — Lorena , Argentina (2011-05-19)

Good times i stayed 5 nights. didnt want to leave Berlin and this excellent Hostel.
good location, nice rooms, cool staff, price is fair and every monday there is a free vegetarian dinner for all guests (good to meet people). i recommend it to everyone!! — Chris , Deutschland (2011-05-06)

Great value for reasonable price Great location at the heart of the city, close to metro, shopping & markets and historical monuments. Service is somewhere beyond and remarkably this is the only hostel on our Europe trip where we received a welcome tea. All staff we meet were talkative and knowledgeable. Great kitchen, garden, and social spheres are provided. Berlin rocks! — Vishal , India (2011-04-18)

Really nice Hostel in Berlin This hostel we really liked, because it was in a nice area and the staff was so nice. They have a free dinner on Monday and Wednesday and you can use the BBQ in he garden (and we had beer there). Great bathrooms, great location. We went on their sightseeing tour and paid 12 € for it what we think was a good price (because the guide was really good and the tour was 9 hours), but there is also a free sightseeing tour. — Stephane , France (2011-04-18)

Great little hostel -- amazing times! this hostel has true spirit! the staff are very friendly and they know their city well! there are a lot of nice restaurants and bars within walking distance. the hostel is very clean, never seen such a clean hostel!!! love the monday free food party!! will be back someday! — Henk , netherlands (2011-01-18)

Great place, friendly staff, good service! had a fantastic stay at this hostel. it was so clean and they offered so many services, like free Wi-Fi, walking tours, and they gave me a good map of the city. Also they gave me good info on where to party in berlin. lots of bars and restaurants are closeby and alexanderplatz is reachable by foot or the subway! — Lola , Norway (2009-11-10)

Excellent! The best hostel I ever booked in Europe! Great place to stay! Friendly staff! Spacious room, very clean! Central location near U-bahn! — Kallisthenis , Greece (2009-03-02)

Central, clean, friendly, hip, kitchen the eastseven berlin hostel is very central located in a friendly neighbourhood. the rooms and bathrooms were very clean. the staff were extremely friendly and i really felt at home. cool thing, on monday they cook a free meal for all the guests! i truly recommend this place! — Vera , Belgian (2009-02-26)

Perfect hostel I traveled for three month in Europe -- EastSeven is the best. Got all city info from the staff, have met a lot of nice travelers, enjoyed the kitchen, and sleep on the good mattresses was best. Shower are better (and much cleaner) than at home. — Martin Schudoma , German (2008-11-23)

Very good hostel, great location loved to stay there, awesome location, met nice people. — Stefan , Schweiz (2008-11-19)

Lovely little hostel This hostel was great. Very clean, new, and friendly. My only beef was that the garden closes at 10 p.m. -- a little early for me, but whatevs. Really great, otherwise! Also, in a fantastic area and really close to my two favourite bars in Berlin! — Melody , Canada (2008-06-30)

I would stay here again. The bathrooms are super clean and assigned to rooms, nice as I never had to wait for a shower/toilet. The staff were nice enough, however, at first I wasn't impressed that they were intoxicated at reception when we checked in. The next few days they made up for it, as they were always friendly, helpful, and seemed to care, and sober. They even do your laundry for you, and for a decent price. Though it was a bit odd handing my female laundry to three guys. They acted professional about it, so that made me feel better. My least favourite thing about here though, it's a smoking allowed hostel. Out of eight hostels in one trip this was the only one with smoking allowed. The location isn't the greatest if you want the major sights, streets were a bit much to navigate in the area, but overall, I could see myself staying here again. — Tina (2006-12-05)

EastSeven is an amazing hostel. It is everything the budget traveller is looking for. It is in a very cool (or über chic as the Germans say) part of town, it is clean, comfortable, has a nice kitchen (stocked with supplies), and a beautiful outdoor garden. However, the biggest drawcard for this hostel is the friendly staff. They are always willing to assist, they joke around with you, and they make your stay a pleasurable experience. Five-star fun with this hostel. — Jules (2006-08-16)
