The Hostelz.com Review
If you like hostels, but are craving a hotel stay, this place might be the perfect mix for you. The building is an old hotel and is still run like one. The lobby is the only common room and has internet available. It's a 10-minute bus ride from the main train station (you can take the metro too, but it costs more). The reception is open 24 hours. The staff is super-friendly and offer cheap beer and advice. Everything looks new here as the hostel was recently opened, although some nonessential parts are still awaiting renovation. There is bag storage as well.

There are a couple of downsides to the hostel. A better common room would go a long way, although it would be hard to create one given the hotel structure. Breakfast is available at the next-door restaurant, but it's not cheap. Also, the hostel is very near to a wellspring of evil – McDonald's. Dorm rooms are very nice and large with tables. Some beds are bunked and some not, but all are comfy and new. The bathrooms are clean and in the room (hairdryer included on wall), though shower curtains would be nice. There are 5 floors here, so plenty of rooms, and an elevator. Easy Palace is a good place to stay, but doesn't really have a hostel feel to it so you probably won't meet people outside of your room.

3 Ok
It is a bit of a walk from the main train station, so be prepared, but it isn't hard to get to. The staff were fairly helpful, but the place and the other travelers staying there had a weird vibe, en-suite bathroom was kinda nice, so-so place.

4 I stayed here for several days in August 2006. This was a great hostel, which apparently used to be a hotel. The hallway decor is definitely from the 1960s, but the rooms were spacious and clean with relatively new furnishings. The kitchen was adequately equipped, and the TV room was a comfortable place to eat and chat. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The walk from the train station can take a little while, especially if you aren't good with directions, but the hostel is really close to supermarkets, the post office, and many places to eat. The Marienplatz is about a ten-minute walk away, and the Englischer Garten is a bit further. I'd definitely consider staying here again if I come back to Munich.

3 Smoking is allowed in the entrance hall of this hostel, even rooms seem to stink for that, but it's officially forbidden to smoke in the rooms. Probably they stink because they are old, same as all the building. Room was spacious and reasonably clean. when we stayed there first days of September it was cold and the heater was off. Don't purchase at the reception the tokens to eat at the restaurant close to the hostel. they treat you like secondary clients and food was not worth the price. Every other place in Munich is better than that.

4 This hostel is in a great location, with a really friendly staff and a fun bar. There isn't much nightlife nearby so if you like staying up late you have to take a cab back to the hostel late at night, so that's a downfall. The rooms and bathrooms are really nice and they provide lockers in the room.

5 Great place to stay. Very clean spacious rooms. Really bright and airy. Loads of info, friendly and helpful staff. Buffet breakfast next door was worth a visit. It's a bit of a trek from the station with a heavy backpack, but I would definitely go back again.

4 Nice, clean. A fair walk from the train station but not too bad. You get to see some of the city on the way. The showers/bathroom en suite is very nice! Comfortable beds! McDonald's is right around the corner. I would definitely stay here again!

4 I had a very good stay here. The staff let us check in early when we arrived exhausted from a horrible trip on a night train. The rooms were large and clean and the beds were very comfy. There were not enough towels, but the staff brought more. The bathroom was fine, not noticeably dirty or anything. The location wasn't very close to the city center, but it was close to a U-Bahn station on Germany's amazing public transit system. The public area was very cozy, but there were lots of younger school groups there when we stayed and the kids were kind of wild, running down halls, knocking on doors, playing in the elevator and such. Overall a very good place, I would recommend it to anyone.

2 Although they advertise a kitchen, what they don't tell you is that it consists of one stove burner and a clapped-out old microwave. Also, there are too many long-termers in their mid-forties who give you the creeps, lurking in the TV room/kitchen.

4 I stayed here in October 2004. The staff are friendly and the hostel has a good location. Yes, the rooms are en suite, but when there are six of you sharing a room you might have to wait to use the shower. There was a broken toilet seat in our dorm. If you want a bit of luxury then pay a little bit extra and get a double room. That's what we did on the last night. The room was big, with a sofa, wardrobe, and a mini-kitchen with a fridge and kettle! Also, I saw they had movie nights as well. Overall, I recommend the place, but take the bus or the U-bahn to get here and don't try to walk here with a heavy pack (using the directions given at the top of this Web page!

5 We had a lot of fun at this place. It has cheap, ice-cold beer (a luxury in Europe!); friendly, helpful staff; and clean, comfortable rooms. Everything was just wonderful. It's close to the U-Bahn, an ATM machine, the post office, and it's about a 10-minute walk from here to the Marienplatz. I'd stay here again.

4 We stayed 2 nights in a double room. It was all sufficiently clean, but the bathroom looked a bit older and some bits might need to be replaced. The room had more space than most we had been to; it was not cramped, and had some furniture (like a desk and chairs), which was nice. There were loads of interesting characters to meet around there, and most seemed to have a good sense of humour. However, we didn't have time to meet any of them since we were out viewing stuff most of the day--which reminds me, the Palace was at a very decent location: 10 minutes from centre, and 30-40 minutes from the furthest main attractions if you go by foot. I would give it 4.4999 if I could :)

4 The most comfortable beds in all of Europe! The staff were really friendly, and there is an agreement with the restaurant downstairs for cheap food at night. Great location!

3 Not bad. Rooms are nice, bathrooms ok. No kitchen, but food coupon for restaurant next door was a good deal. Pizzas are huge and filling.

4 I stayed at the Easy Palace for 3 nights and had a great time. The hostel was easy to reach by u-bahn, and was a 10 minute walk from the center of town. The people at the front desk were extremely nice and more than willing to help me with directions and suggestions of things to do in the city. My only major complaint about the Easy Palace would be the broken toilet seat in the bathroom.

3 The location, the rates (except for the 4,90 euro breakfast) and the rooms are fine. It does have a hotel feel to it, although the staff are very friendly and you don't have to do or undo your bed! But the common areas, the corridors and the bathrooms desperately call for renovation. The walls are either chipping off or covered with mould patches. The ceiling and the bathtubs are broken, and one can see all the pipes passing through. Last, but not least, the bathroom curtains, when there are any, are quite dirty. Of course, you can overlook all those things, but then again, why should you?
