1 Unfriendly staff, overpriced, lack of amenities.
This hostel was awful. Poor facilities, tiny kitchen for the amount of people there. The so called bar was nonexistent and was just an attic room with some terrible plastic chairs and one internet portal where you could not even sit down. Staff were generally very grumpy and looked like they didn't want to be there. We were charged 50 euros for a twin room which I think was overpriced since we managed to get a nice hotel for 59 (we decided to leave this hostel early). The only thing going for this place is probably the location, but I am sure you could do better in Budapest than this place.

1 Terrible!
The hostel is really terrible! The room is dirty, the bed is dirty, the so-called kitchen is dirty! (Only a microwave and fridge that they claimed it as a kitchen.) I stayed at this hostel for four nights and it was a terrible experience. One of my roommates complained of the bedbugs! (I had my own bed bag, anyway.) The mobile phone of the other roommate was stolen while we were sleeping! No security at all!

1 Dreadful!
Apart from the location, this hostel is a shocker! The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, bathrooms were filthy and smelt bad -- hair in the sinks, water on the floor, no hooks to hang stuff. Bad atmosphere and very noisy. It's one of Busabout's hostel stops so if you're after a real party place you might enjoy it, otherwise go elsewhere!

4 excellent location, three minutes' walk to Deak Ter. big, clean rooms. fun bar, open twenty-four hours. cool people. big lockers. 10 a.m. checkout time, strictly enforced. Some people I was hanging out with had to pay for half a night's accommodation for checking out at 12 not 10. slightly institutional feel. some noise from street traffic -- take earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

2 Although this hostel is one of the cleanest I've ever seen, going here was the worst decison I've made in months of traveling. They lost or stole my passport, and were not helpful about my situation. I got more help from my cab driver. The receptionist was horrible and made the experence about ten times worse then it had to be. They also tried to over charge us when we payed the bill.

4 Lots of stairs. Big bright rooms. There was a little kitchen but I didn't use it. Great location near the river, restaurants and check out Yellow Zebra by McDonalds for excursions and cheap Internet. The staff is a little gruff, but nothing a genuine smile couldn't smooth over. You know what they say, you attract more flies with honey than with vinegar.

5 We stayed at this hostel because it was recommended at the Keleti train station after the hostel we planned to stay at was shut down. Excellent hostel and in a great location for all the sights. People were nice and friendly and the bar upstairs was wonderful — extremely cheap (but good) beer.

3 Horrendously overpriced, I'd say. I suppose you are paying for location, and the fact that Mellow Mood is a chain. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and it's a perfectly nice base to explore Budapest. Whilst we were staying there, there were a few thefts from other rooms, and from what people were saying the staff didn't seem that keen to help the victims. I expect you could find a better value hostel.

4 I spent two nights here in July 05. The staff were not rude, but they weren't especially friendly either — more like, "helpful when prodded." Other than that, the place was wonderful. Our room was small (six beds and only room for one person's luggage on the floor at a time) but there were larger rooms available (probably at a little higher cost). The lockers were huge, and the cleanliness was above and beyond anything I've seen in another hostel (and a lot of hotels) — very well kept. The location is also perfect for walking nearly anywhere downtown within 5-15 minutes. I would definitely stay here again.

5 This hostel was MAD!! It was definitely the best one that I stayed in whilst travelling for a month. The rooms are clean and spacious and have large lockers to keep your things safe. The upstairs bar was a great place to meet people — so many lovely memories!! The staff were always very friendly and willing to help. Thanks guys! I would totally recommend this hostel to everyone staying in Budapest :-) Oh, the location is great, too.

5 I stayed in a six-bed dorm, with friends. The place was superb, clean and comfy! The 5th floor bar is well worth a visit. It has good atmosphere and the cheapest beer we found all trip! Great location for walking, or getting the Metro to any part of the city. The staff couldn't do enough to help and unless you're a 100 percent sure of how you're getting to the hostel, take them up on their airport transfer deal. It's cheaper than you'll find at the airport!

4 This hostel is in a great position for you to see the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful — good on you, girls!! The rooms were clean and the shower facilities excellent. The 24/7 bar in the attic was a great place to start the evening and the staff even joined in with our rugby games!! I'll definitely stay again.

5 I just spent two nights at the MM and I thought it was great. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the showers had plenty of hot water with good pressure. The location is really good as well and is only a few blocks away from the river and right next to a Metro stop. Granted the reception is small, but the people working there are really nice and it's really only a slight hassle when checking in/out. I would definitely stay here again!

4 Although it is very big, the rooms are really clean and really spacious. You get a huge locker, and there is a really good bar upstairs with nice staff who will let you know about all the best places to go and see. And it is in the center of town, so close to everything, including the Metro.

3 The hostel is clean, and they have a nice pub upstairs where they serve breakfast (it costs extra, but it is still really cheap). They offer laundry facilities; however after I did my wash, I found out that the dryer did not work, which was a huge pain obviously. The reception area is really small and it can take a while to get in. Their kitchen facilities are really small, but they have large fridges to store your stuff in. Overall it's not bad, but I would find another place to stay the next time I was in Budapest.
