The Hostelz.com Review
100 Cintra Street is located right in the heart of Georgetown, Penang. Five minutes' walking distance from Komtar bus station and Chulia Street, this hostel is a very convenient location to stay. The hostel earlier used to be an old mansion, which was converted into one of the first air-conditioned malls in Penang. The mall did not do too well and it was then decided by the owners to convert the place into a backpacker hostel. This hostel has sufficient room and is not very crowded, making it a quiet place.

The dorm rooms, double rooms, and single rooms are located on the first floor. There is a wide staircase with lovely terracotta pots that one has to take to reach the first floor. The dorm is very basic with beds and one common wardrobe. The beds are equipped with mosquito nets. Since the dorm is in a common area and not in a separate room, it may not be advisable to leave valuables in the bag. The double room and the single room have beds, wardrobes, a table fan, and mosquito nets. The rooms have a locking facility, however the doors do not look too stably. Hence, it is advisable to carry your important documents/money/valuables along with you. The shower and toilet facility, which is clean, is on the first floor too.

On the ground floor, the hostel has a lovely courtyard with wooden tables and a common room with sofas and chairs to relax. The furniture is antique, a warm looking place. There is a nice wooden patio on the second floor in case one wants to relax and read a book. The hostel serves tea, coffee, fruit juices, soft drinks, and beer. There is an internet facility in the common room. The staff help backpackers with a map of Penang and share advice on places to visit and how to get around.

Overall, at an affordable rate, 100 Cintra Street is one of the best stay options in Penang. If you are looking for a budget place to stay with a quaint feel, this is the place.
