Well, normal, plain, cheap (week special)
Although I spent about two weeks there, I don't think it's bad. It was my first experience in backpack. so I'm not sure about other facilities. anyway a little far from the center, and free breakfast was really simple (cheap bread and milk). not that many tour services (just find your own tour). Living room is dark, smoky. Well anyway I think according to persons who use this room, the evaluation of it may change.

Do you like cockroaches? Do you love bed bugs? Are you keen on dirty palaces? If you like all this, Boomerang Backpackers is the right accommodation you are looking for! Anyway, I have to admit that is dirty cheap and not too far from the city center.

Don't stay here. they advertised rooms they didn't have, we booked a double with en-suite, got a grubby bunk room where the nearest toilet was on another floor -- didn't help i had a foot injury. We asked for a refund (seeing it was fully clear the room we booked didn't exist) receptionist wouldn't give it unless the manager gave permission but he was avoiding our phone calls so took ages to get that out of him.

We were picked up at the airport by the owner of this hostel. I still remember thinking he had a weak handshake and hoped the hostel would be ok. I was hoping in vain! When we got there it was about 10 p.m. We paid for our room before we saw it (the owner insisted). The room was stuffy and packed full of beds. It was so dirty I couldn't identify which beds were free! I decided almost immediately that we couldn't stay there. Myself and my boyfriend had just backpacked through Africa and were not too fussy about where we stayed but this place was a joke. We went back to the reception and demanded a refund as we had been there all of five minutes! The owner refused and was very rude. The place was so filthy and packed. During our argument with the owner a backpacker came up to the desk. His entire ear inside and out and half his face were covered in bedbug bites, he looked so unwell. He said he had been to the doctor and the doctor said he should demand a refund. We got out of there as soon as we could. It was so disgusting. Please do not stay there, never go near it! It will ruin your holiday in Sydney!

Apart from the very uninterested and unhelpful staff, the place is ok. Just watch that the owner tries to charge for everything, like having to rent a cup for $2. Stupid. The rooms were ok, the kitchen and showers were ok, and it's in an ok location. Just a very average hostel with miserable staff.

This is the worst hostel we ever stayed in!!! The staff are not interested. The rules are ridiculous; you can't cook after 8:30 p.m. No vouchers for the bar, and you have to ask for free Internet at arrival. There are cockroaches in the showers, rooms and toilets — disgusting!!! The place smells and you have to pay a deposit for a mug. We say AVOID THIS HOSTEL. It's not what you need as a backpacker. Boomerang Backpacker is OUT!!!

This place has the most overcrowded rooms ever — so many beds had been crammed in the room that the door wouldn't open, and there was nowhere to put your stuff. There were also bedbugs and it was dirty. On the plus side, it was a good place to meet people.

It's a bit manky [dirty]. I would definitely avoid it, unless you like bedbugs.

This hostel is one of the worst I have ever stayed in. The owner is a rude, money-grabbing scrooge who charges exorbitant amounts for what is an extremely shabby place to stay. AVOID!

I stayed in the rooms that were in the adjacent block to the main part of the hostel, and the kitchen and bathroom were greasy and grimy. A lot of the mess was due to other guests not cleaning up after themselves, but the staff did nothing to check up on them or even provide washing-up liquid or tea-towels. I had to clean the cooker BEFORE I used it. It looked like they must have spend a bit converting the building into the dorms, but it looks like it has just not been looked after. The staff looked like they couldn't care less and were larking around enjoying themselves.

I rented a room at this hostel for two nights on November 4th and 5th, and from experience I will tell you that if you go to Sydney to hang out in your hostel room this is not the place for you. But if you are like me, then this place is just fine. I dropped my stuff in my room, made some friends on the roof and went out on the town. The important part is the people, and they were all very cool so it worked for me. No worries!

This place was very filthy and smelly. I booked it for two nights before I got to Sydney, but if I'd seen it first I wouldn't have stayed here. It was awful! And on top of everything else, I got bedbugs.

The manager could not have been ruder to both me and my friend, on separate occasions. The "free" airport pick-up is a particularly common con. However, the employees and other guests were a friendly, helpful bunch and the location and free breakfast were bonuses. It's not so beautiful, but after looking at some of the other cheap places around Kings Cross, it's not the worst either, and at least you don't have to go through a strip bar to get in!
