The Hostelz.com Review
Happy Bed Hostel Steglitz – Berlin is a good choice for people who are looking for a nice place to stay, but don't mind that it isn't a social hostel for meeting people. You can get there on the S-bahn, which you can travel on with a rail pass. It's about 8 stops away from the main stations and takes about 15 minutes. Therefore, if you have an unlimited rail pass the location is good, if not it might be a bit too much out of the way.

To get there by S-bahn catch S1 from Friedrichstrasse to Rathaus Steglitz. You can also get there by U-bahn from Berlin Zoologischer Garten. You want U9 and the stop is also Rathaus Steglitz. Once you get there, it could be tricky to find if you are not armed with these simple directions: Exit the S-bahn in the direction following the signs for the U-bahn and vice versa. You should find an area with some take away food stands which is outside but located underneath a road overpass. If you come out of the S-bahn, turn right. If you came out of the U-bahn turn left. Walk along the overpass on the left side of it. You will immediately come to traffic lights after you leave the station and keep going straight. At the second traffic lights turn right and go under the overpass. Walk up this road and you will find the street with the hostel when you see "Lidl" grocery store. The hostel is just around the corner. It's not very well signposted and it looks like an apartment building but there is a small paper sign on the gate. It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk and it's almost flat all the way.

If you make it there you will find a simple, but clean and friendly hostel. There are not a lot of facilities and it's not very lively. It is more suited to couples or groups who keep to themselves than lone travelers.

The only common area is the TV room. There is internet for 1.5 euros per half hour and a vending machines for drinks. There is no kitchen, but breakfast is included and it's quite impressive for a European hostel. There is every type of mini-cheese you could imagine and six types of meat to go on your roll, as well as sweet spreads, cereal, coffee, tea, and juice. They even provide paper bags so you can take breakfast away.

4 We did enjoy our stay in Berlin, clean and very quiet atmosphere in the hostel, delicious breakfast. Hostelling personnel were both prepared and very nice to us, therefore we recommend booking on this incredible interesting place.

3 This place is in a very out-of-the-way suburban location. The free breakfast was great though!
