Club Nelson

The place had a good feel, everyone was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We had the deluxe double room in the front of the house that was very open. There were curtains all around it and i think one of them was missing as the curtains did not close all the way around the room. It was very basic, and a lot of the furnishings and bed sheets and bathrooms looked like they had been there since the dawn of time. They were clean though. A bit noisy as you could even hear whispers in the next room. Great location, close to the centre of town, but it is on top of a major hill, a bit of a fun challenge to run up it! This place is in dire need of an update. It would be a beautiful place to stay if a little money was spent on a minor renovation.

Nelson is a brilliant place and this hostel has lots of character, though a rambling place it might be. It's in a very nice area and with lots of plus points such as price, space, and views.

The facilities are poor to begin with, but having spent two sleepless nights being kept awake by my fellow backpackers, I complained to the management. "Dale" told me that there was nothing that he could do because he could not control that number of people. He refused to reimburse me for my $35 a night single room because, he insisted, I got what I paid for. I would not recommend staying here, where the weary get no rest and the wronged are treated with little respect.
