Location	• For maps & comprehensive directions to Newport visit: www.gonewport.com/gettingaround/directions.htm • Walking directions to 16 Howard Street from Newport Transportation & Visitor Information Center: The Transportation & Visitor Information Center where you will arrive if coming by bus is on America's Cup Avenue. Keeping the water on your right walk about 1/8 mile to where America's Cup feeds into Memorial Drive. Thames St. will be on the right. Take a right on Thames St. Continue straight for about 8 blocks. When you see a sign on a brick wall on your right that says "Vincent's On the Pier" you have reached Howard St. Take a left. 16 Howard St. is the large white house with black shutters - third house on the left. • By Bus to Newport: Bonanza Bus lines service Newport. From Boston take Bonanza Bus from South Station. From any other location take bus to Providence then take a Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority (RIPTA) bus to Newport. • By car to Newport: From points north – 95S, exit 4S (south of Providence), to 138E to Newport. From Cape cod – 6W to 195W, to 24S, to 138E to Newport. From points west – 95N to 4S (just before Providence), to 138E to Newport. • By Train, then bus to Newport: Take AMTRAK train to Providence. Change to Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority (RIPTA) bus for Newport. • By air to Providence: The T.F. Green airport outside of Providence, RI, is the closest airport to Newport. The best way to get to the Newport Youth Hostel from the airport is by a minivan shuttle service run by Cozy Cab. Cost from airport to Newport is $20 one way. For reservation call 1-800-846-1502 if out of the area or 401-846-2500 if in Rhode Island. Ask them to drop you off at the William Gyles Guesthouse in Newport. A really great place

I stayed at this hostel a couple of days in August '08 and I had a great time. Merrilee, the owner, is the best hostel manager I've ever met -- and I've stayed in many hostels in the U.S., New Zealand, and Australia. She knows everything about Newport, is very helpful, friendly, outgoing, and you can feel that she enjoys what she's doing. She's a great ambassador for Newport. The hostel is very clean and comfy and Newport is a wonderful place to stay for some days since there's plenty to do.

Excellent hostel

I was recently here for three nights and had a wonderful stay. It is very clean and conveniently located. It has only single beds (no bunk beds) and twenty-four-hour access. Merrilee, the owner and operator, is very knowledgeable about Newport and gave some very helpful information about what to see, where to eat. Maps, brochures, transportation schedules, and updates on events in Newport are all available at the hostel. I would definitely recommend staying here.

This was a wonderful experience. I was new to hostelling and I found this to be a wonderful place. The owner was so cordial and she attended to all the needs of someone visiting Newport, from great places to dine to things to see and do. And the house was so comfy. The owner even gave us a night walk, telling us the old history of Newport. I have to visit again soon. Great people, great times, and a wonderful place to visit.
