Northaven Backpackers & Motor Inn

Horrible owners, great travelers
Some of the best friends we met in our trip were met at Northaven. However, the owners were very dodgy. The bus driver was a maniac and almost flipped the bus out in the fields one day, threw this poor girl clear across the bus. There are a few that were worse, but the only thing that made this worthwhile were the people that stayed there.

I stayed for four months in Australia, but this was by far the worst hostel. Very dirty and small rooms, kitchen.

We were well looked after in that we had a double room and double bed. They gave us work but, for $0.70/hr and eventually stole my guitar and books. They chose not to explain the facilities and refused to kick out the guy that threw my girlfriend on Christmas. There was some good sauce in the free-food shelf and the other guests were brilliant people but one lady worried my girlfriend by trying to start an affair with me. overall. It was horrible.

It was terribly run down by the previous owners, but in the process of being revamped, A/C was being fitted as well as TV and fridge in a 4 bed dorm. Very comfy and homey. I didn't do a day of fruit picking while I was there but I loved the people there and Mildura is lovely, The pool is great, and the common room big. The owners were very nice people too. I think perhaps bad timing was my problem for the fruit picking but definitely the right time for making great friends, good nights out and a very memorable experience!

Just another bunch of money-grabbing swindlers. Keep your eye on them. Very dodgy. They'll find you work though, but that'll be under the official award rate, and you can guarantee they're making something from it, too. Dodgy! They do have a swimming pool and most rooms have a TV.

One word: PEOPLE!!!

In fact this hostel is ridiculous, but the people were great, and Mildura is excellent. If you don't mind paying a fortune for crap, stay in this hostel. One good thing about this place is, that you can jump in a very dirty pool, but who cares about dirt? We are backpackers.

When you arrive at this hostel it looks like a mess, and in fact, it is. But I can also tell you that the backpackers who stayed at this hostel had their best time in Australia here.

There were 6 people in one room, and the kitchen is only open from 6 to 8, and there were bed bugs...
