Friendly, chilled hangout on your trip to the Lost City I nearly spent one week chillin' and hanging in the miramar in june 2007 and remembers me on a good time. Good staff, very nice cheap food, and easy people hanging out. I just can recommend that hostel. Four stars at least. To book the ciudad perdida tour with erwin the man (guide) and his guys, it's the easiest way to stay at the miramar. — Jonas Michael HUBER , Swiss (2008-01-15)

Best place to stay in Santa Marta. Great people, nice food, great atmosphere. — Johanna (2005-11-05)

Ah, how I yearn for Hotel Miramar, and will until I am fortunate enough to return! The ambience is classic, and most visitors are "extranjeros" (foreigners). A fun, friendly environment, with plenty of opportunities to improve your own Spanish, or help the friends that you meet along the way. The staff are unforgettable.... la muda, Janet, Ramon, and Jairo, the ever observant owner. Jairo's partner Nathan is a wonderful addition to the hotel; his experience in traveling through South America allows for great advice, his translating help (from English to Spanish) is invaluable, and his personable character makes every visitor a welcome guest.
The new hotel in Taganga is priceless.... lazy days with siestas under the lime trees, the fun option of cooking your own meals, and a lovely beach just 3 blocks away.
All in all, Santa Marta is a wonderful and safe place to visit. I recommend it to all backpackers, families, and individuals. Make it a travel stop!! — Brittany (2005-07-04)
