Santorini was the first island I stayed in Greece when I was backpacking in Europe last year, we planned to stay in hostel, but turned out we were stopped by the owner of the hotel. He said it is very near to the center, just two minutes away, I doubted. He saw my hesitation and lowered the price. But anyway, got the free ride and had the room checked. It was amazingly clean, spacious, and comfortable. With free coffee every day, kind and nice service, it was the best hostel/hotel we stayed in our two-month budget trip across Europe. — Kelvin Chong (2006-03-21)

I ended up staying here after being accosted by the owner as soon as I came off the ferry. It pretty much happens on every island, though. I took a chance on him and it turned out to be a good call.
However, it you're going to go with one of the people that tout for guests at the port, make it clear that you're only going with them to have a look at the place and not committing yourself to staying there.
That way, you at least get a free ride into the center of Santorini. (You definitely can't walk from the ferry to the town.)
My room was clean and spacious. The shower was nice. I'd recommend it. The location's not slap-bang in the middle of the shops and restaurants, but considering that shops and restaurants are only a two-minute walk away from the hostel I'd say it was still ideally situated. — David W. - Glasgow, Scotland (2005-04-16)

Recommended! We stayed for two nights in April 2005. The descriptions by the owner are accurate. The place is clean, comfortable and quiet. Excellent location as well. Just about a three-minute walk to the town center, bus station, restaurants, shopping area, and old port. The free transfer to and from the port/airport is really useful. The facilities and services provided are good value, considering its inexpensive room rate. The owner is very helpful and kind. — Swee (2005-04-15)
