Description
BrightHikers is rated highly by Lonely Planet & Lets Go Travel Guides and is situated on the 2nd floor in a modern main street building 350 meters from the bus stop. There is 3 Twin/double, 2 dorm and 1 family room, a large well equipped (v.Clean) kitchen and spacious dining & lounge areas. Our excellent verandah overlooking the main street is the best in town.

| Location | •Top Floor of 4 Ireland Street • Brights point of entry from the north is via the Hume Highway towns of WANGARATTA or ALBURY. From the south along the Great Alpine Road via LAKES ENTRANCE or BAIRNSDALE. • BY BUS...Daily V/Line Train/Bus, Melbourne to Bright, via Wangaratta or a Bus, From Albury to Bright via Beechworth (week days only) Check the Train/Bus timetable as departure times vary. (Train/Bus V/Line timetable) Unfortunately the interstate buses (Greyhound & McCafferty's) do not connect well with the V/Line bus out of Wangaratta. Suggest that you call the hostel for advice. • BY CAR... We are 312 km from Melbourne, 481 km from Canberra & 686 km from Sydney. Bright can be accessed from the Hume Freeway at Wangaratta by taking the Great Alpine Road (B500) 76 km Approx 55 mins... or from Albury-Wodonga, via Yackandandah, joining the B500 at Myrtleford.(1 hour) From Lakes Entrance or Bairnsdale, via the B500 230 km (Allow at least 4 hours) The hostel is situated on the 2nd floor in a modern main street building, only 350 meters from the bus stop. • TO FIND US... From the clocktower at the centre of town head South towards the SUPER IGA Supermarket (Open till 9pm 7 days). 200 meters past that there is a big tree at the entrance to an open arcade. Head into the arcade and up the stairs and you're there. (We also house an Internet Cafe) Taxi's are the only public transport in and around Bright but it's not so big that you can't get around by walking or on a bike (Which incidently we hire), For farther trekking we will assist you (whenever possible) with information to get you to the various attractions. There is a skiers bus service to MT HOTHAM (The Snowball Express) during the peak part of the ski season. • We hire Mountain Bikes, so you can explore the Rail Trail, roads and river tracks. |
