5  Very nice hostel Backpackers Newcastle was a very nice and comfortable accommodation. You have a beautiful outside area with a small swimming pool, palms, hammocks, and free billiards. In the big main kitchen and TV lounge I got in touch with other guests and of course have some party together. The staff were always friendly and helpful -- we made spontaneously an amazing surf-trip with the manager of the hostel!  , Germany ()
4  very pleasant. Was collected from the bus and given a guided tour of newcastle, which I thought was a nice touch. the accommodation was very clean with a nice homely feel. Unfortunately there isn't a lot to see or do in Newcastle so we left. I do love the fact they have an ocean pool called The Bogey Hole though!  ()
4  Nice enough place. Not really that much to do in Newcastle though! We went on a tour of the Hunter Valley and walked to Nobbies Beach and that is about all there is! We stayed in a double ensuite which was in the second building. There are only a few rooms there so the kitchen was never really busy. Quite quiet and only a few cockroaches!  ()
1  We did not stay here. Our (bad) experience was on the phone. We booked for a one-night stay, but, due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to stay. We gave three days notice to cancel. Karen (the obnoxious evening receptionist) said that we could not cancel as there was no refund policy. They do not tell you this when you book, so beware. We eventually got our money back when we spoke to Dean (the manager) who was pleasant enough.  ()
4  Nice, friendly hostel. It's clean and well equipped with very helpful staff. They picked us up from a slightly obscure location no problem and dropped us off even when it was inconvenient for them. They organised a good value wine tour for us, which was great fun - the wine never stopped flowing. We also got a free meal at the local pub where there was a quiz night - a good night! All in all, we only stayed for a few days but would have stayed longer if we could have.  ()
