Excellent Stayed here 4 nights. Warm welcome. Comfortable, clean. Bill, the proprietor, outstandingly helpful, practical, knowledgeable and friendly. Lent me a bicycle to pedal up to the Mountainside for a hike and a look at P.N. Lent me trekking poles for the day hike I took without cost. Rented some gear here at reasonable rates so I wouldn't have to deal with TSA and so much baggage. The 3 PM talk about Torres del paine hike is very informative. They had bus tickets to Torres there also. Bus stops in front of E.R. -- so convenient. Great breakfast. Sent me to nearby bilingual travel agent who worked miracles with tight schedules so I could get to El Calafate and penguins and Punta Arenas on short notice. International guests. It's cozy so paradoxically it's quieter than other hostels I've stayed in because I think guests are more thoughtful of each other given the cozy but totally adequate quarters. The first review that gave it 3 stars was mad about a noisy place in Punta Arenas. Erratic Rock in Puerto Natales is really quiet across from a park. Very little traffic goes by. Highly recommend. They have a nice eco-ethic here also, encouraging recycling and mindfulness about plastic bags and the stuff we gunk up the environment with. I liked it that they had a place to donate to the animal rescue cause in P.N. also. Lots of stray dogs, all nice, that I met in P.N. A genuine community asset for Puerto Natales and world travelers. Moderate the hostel is very nice with some what helpful americans on site. however the sister hostel they recommend for erratic rock in punta arenas is sh*t. The owners are very nice but if you want a sleepless night because of the downstairs enpanada house stay in this hostel. The noise is so loud and well happens everyday, as i write this review at four in the morning the owners have offered me my money back. — liliana , Canadian (2010-01-11)

Great and hugely informative This hostel is well known by travelers and you need to book in advance. They do a free talk every day at 3 p.m. telling you everything you need to know about trekking in Torres del Paine -- everything from which treks are perfect for your time frame to what food brands are good at the local supermarket! These guys really know their stuff and the hostel is very comfortable. Only problems are the time restraints on showering but easily overcome with a bit of planning. Bill the notorious American owner even lent me trekking clothes free of charge as I was ridiculously unprepared for the trip! (Thanks Bill.) — Clare , UK (2008-04-10)

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone preparing for a trip to the Torres del Paine National Park. It has an American owner who was very knowledgeable about the park. They also offer excursions into the park and the surrounding area. The rooms were clean, as were the bathrooms. We stayed here before and after our hike. Breakfast was just what was needed before a long trek out in the park: scrambled eggs and real coffee! — Korey Kallstrom (2005-04-05)
