Brilliant place!! Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 6 weeks before christmas in 2011. We had the best time here, met some really cool people that we will stay in contact with. The hostel has a good lay out and its easy to socialize with people. There was always someone to have a good drink with even if you and they had work and everybody had a right good crack on the weekends. It is a very friendly hostel, cleaned everyday and in a great spot in mildura, pretty close to all the bars, shops and supermarkets. Oh and great for work too. — Matt , Englnad (2012-01-25)

Great time! It was great, loved it, best time in Oz! stayed there january 2008
loved the work ... well it was the least painful of fieldwork! and the ambiance was familial! I recommend it! — Kelly , French-English (2011-06-10)

My Australian Home The moment I arrived in Mildura was dreadful -- hot, irritable, so not in the mood to go grape picking. my first impression of the hostel was not a good one. but within days I felt at home, like one big family and the oddest atmosphere in a hostel I'd stayed in and have been in since -- more like a share house. The Manager, Maria makes this place -- wouldn't be the same without her! She's completely honest about work -- she'll tell the truth about what works going over the phone so you don't waste time and money getting there. The vibe is relaxed and there are no picky restrictions or rules. But you feel safe and looked after anyway. I spent a long time here and for good reason -- it is my home in the Southern Hemisphere! — Becks , England (2008-09-11)

it's alright i suppose. — 123 (2007-05-10)

My first time ever in a hostel and I was pleasantly surprised. The manager when I first arived -- Mandy -- was filling in and made me feel very welcome. Her and her husband cooked food for us on several weekeds and made sure we had good jobs at a time of year when farm work was scarce (august/september). From very early on I was made to feel like a member of the familly and no one was left out when it came to group outings such as golf, club buffets, or visiting local attractions.
Despite having messy occupants the place was kept very tidy with a daily cleaner, who even washed up peoples dishes. It's not the newest looking of hostels, but it is run by decent, honest people. All in all, for fun, work, and a great place to make friends -- of all nationalities -- I highly recommend it! — Christopher july-ocotber (2006-10-09)

I stayed at this hostel several times during my time in Oz. It was always a pleasure. They were always helpful and found work for you and Mary always have time to listen if you want to talk. They have free BBQ or pizza on fridays and it almost always end up in a great party. Always nice people who stay there and you get some great friends. So it's a good combo of work and fun. They have a nice kitchen so you can save money on cooking your own dinner, wich is always good. This is the best hostel ever and you miss out if you don't go there. — Maja, Denmark (2006-09-07)

The best hostel on earth, cant wait to come back. Miss the fun i had and the great people. if you wanna stay in mildura you have to stay at the MCB! Manager Maria is the best. — Edna (2006-09-07)

I would like to comment how good this hostal is. this hostal is the best i have been in since arriving in Oz. the staff Mandy and Maria are really hospitable and would do almost anything for you to make your stay the best it can. Recently the hostal was run by only one person and all i can say is that that one person did a really good job. i take my hat off to her -- i do not know how she coped with all the backpackers and also the day to day running of the hostal. this hostal is like home from home. It is like being in a big family -- everyone looks out for everyone
Miss the place loads, take care all of you, and people who have stayed there keep it real. — Tracey (Sex Kitten) (2006-09-02)

This place was ok, but myself and girlfriend were crammed into an eight-bed dorm which should have only had four beds in it max. I imagine it is better in summer as there is a TV outside in the back yard but it was freezing as it was winter and the only other option was this tiny room with four seats in it. The staff are very friendly though and I wouldn't say I wouldn't stay here again, but then it's not up to me at the moment. — anon (2006-08-27)

Best backpackers I've been in, more like a home away from home than a hostel. Great family atmosphere and great people! Was there three and half months and will always remember it! Maria and Mandy were amazing! — Danny Goldie (2006-04-27)

Absolutely brilliant hostel. More like a family home when you're away travelling. Great atmosphere, free bbq or pizza on Friday nights and drinks vouchers. Met the best group of people and some of my best times in Oz happened in Mildura City B/P;. Hostel manager Maria is lovely and helpful getting work etc and helping organise parties. Mandy is also brilliant fun and so kind.... Highly recommend this hostel if you are up for a lot of fun..... — Emma (2005-12-05)

I'd have to say this is best hostel in Mildura without doubt. This place is cool! Maria the manager is lovely and will always help you out. There's plenty of work at this hostel and it's well paid, too! The atmosphere was sensational and there is free pizza on Friday nights. What more could you want! Thanks, Maria! — Pompey Nick (2005-10-06)

I miss Mildura City Backpackers SO much. I lived there for a couple of months during my time in Australia, and I have to say it's the best hostel I lived in! So many nice people, atmosphere, etc. Perfect. To the manager at that time, Dean, YOU ARE THE BEST! You made everyone feel safe and comfortable, and really did your best to help us with everything. Thanks. GO MCB. — Linn, Norway (2005-08-28)

This is by far the most incredible hostel in all of Oz. For good times come here, there are always plenty of parties happening. It's cool out. Lots of free food on a Friday so happy days. Our lovely manager, Maria, is the best. Come here for good times. It's brilliant, party central of Mildura. If you think you can drink a sh*t load of goon you haven't been to City. To all who are reading, this Josh's birthday is the 16th, so savage party, you gotta pump it up!!! It really is a sh*t hot hostel; the only bad thing is having to leave.
