Horrible There was a lot of noise all night long outside the house, could not sleep. There was something wrong with the outdoor lock and there was all the time someone outside and couldn't get in with the key. One night we were there as well, tried to call the reception but the guy there had gone out for a drink. The neighbourhood is bad, my bag was stolen in a taco restaurant nearby. Somebody had also tried to open the locker where we had some of our stuff. Not very clean place either. Kitchen was next to our room, noise from there as well. — Anne , Finland (2009-04-27)
Don't go there. Sorry but it is true! I'm twenty-four years old, I traveled all around europe, I always book cheap hotels, but this is the worse I ever found! Very bad street, all criminals around (pure truth). Dirty rooms, dirty bathrooms. the photos are not recent. what i found there is not as shown. we stayed there about thirty minutes, then i went to the "reception" and said good bye! — S & I , Italy (2007-08-11)
good location. nice room. I booked a two-beds room with my girlfriend. we arrived at 11 a.m. and we left our baggages into our room and exited. When we came back we found a big chaos in the room -- some burglar entered and stole a mobile and a t-shirt. We told the reception man what happened in our room, but he hasn't been that polite and didn't gave back cash, but he just recharged our credit card (actually I didn't rely that man) except the booking import 15,80 euros which has been completely lost. We were compelled to search for another bedroom at 9 p.m. Very bad experience. — mario (2007-03-06)

It's a good hostel, where you feel good and where you meet people from the entire world. You feel free (no closing in the night, even often nobody keeping the hostel, you are given several keys) and the toilets are clean. No problem with other customers. The location, in the heart of Barcelona, is ideal. Showers and kitchen are basic and a bit unclean, the street may be noisy, the place is not very safe. But you find the necessities, the atmosphere is pleasant, and you feel like home, moreover the prices are cheap. Go there! — mAx, Laurent, Guillaume, Cécile, Mathilde et Thomas (2007-03-03)

We have been there twice this summer, at the beginning of july, and at the end of august. This hostel was great, we stayed both in a dorm and a twin room. It was clean (except maybe the showers), and I think the owner liked us, so he was very sympathic and helpful. We lost our luggage when we arrived in Barcelona, and he reassured us, he said that this happened all the time and that we would get our luggage soon. And he was right! So, the hostel was very great, the kitchen was very complete, and, most of all, it was calm at night! It was not noisy, maybe except the dorm that has a window on the side of the street, but the rest of the hostel was very calm, so we could sleep well! I would recommend this hostel to everyone. — Chloe and Alex - Québec (2006-12-07)
we stayed in the two-bed en-suite which was a lovely room in september. though on our second night our room was broken into while we were sleeping and both our suitcases with all our money and passports in them was stolen, we cut the trip short and went home the next day. the staff were not helpful and told other guests we must have left the door open they also told us this had never happened before yet i find it strange, a review on another website claims they too were robbed in august in the habana home? i wonder why the staff lied to us? i wouldn't stay here. — Fiona, Glasgow (2006-11-09)
This place was absolutely terrible, don't go there. We visited in September '06 and it was terrible. It's in a really unsafe part of Barcelona. There were no locks or door handles on the bedroom door, the wiring in the place was dodgy throughout and everything was disgustingly dirty. My friend was covered in bites the next day from the mattress. — Mary McCluskey (2006-10-25)

The staff is really dishonnest and they don't do sh*t' if i may use the word, but the hostel is to be honest one of the better ones in Barcelona, don't be scared of by the staff, if you don't pay attention to them, it's a really nice place to be. oh yeah, last detail, after a certain hour, they really get pist if there's any noise on the terras. But I loved it, you've got great facilities, i was surprised. — friends from belgium (2006-06-04)

We had a good time in Habana Home; the place and staff are perfect, the salsa and tequila even better. Barcelona is heaven, see you next year. — Three men from Holland (2005-11-19)
The place itself wasn't bad but the staff were either incompetent or dishonest. I changed my booking over the phone with one member of staff due to a plane cancellation — to later find out that it hadn't been done. And although I had paid for four nights I was kicked out after three — and the guy I had spoken to on the phone said I had lied! — Hannah & Graeme (2005-10-21)

Wow. I have been backpacking for 10 years now and this is the best hostel I have stayed in by far. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much for them to do for you. They actually ask if you need help. Highly recommended. — Todd Cooper, New Zealand (2005-04-27)

This place is awesome!!! My friend and I did a nine-week tour of Europe, and this place was, without a doubt, one of the best we stayed in on the entire tour. It's perfectly located just off Las Ramblas, close to heaps of shops, clubs and bars. The staff are really helpful, always ready with advice and suggestions, and they even carried our suitcases to and from our rooms for us! Our room was fantastic — it was on a floor of its own, along with three other small rooms, and we had a bathroom, toilet and full kitchen facilities to share. Free Internet access, clean and comfortable beds, buzzing vibe, heaps of travelers sharing their experiences...this is THE place to stay in Barcelona! — Anonymous (2005-04-06)

The hospitality here is awesome and the vibe is cool! — Anonymous (2005-01-04)
