Cheapest hostel in Cairo -- not bad but what can be expected for $2
This is literally the cheapest hostel in Cairo. At $2 a night, don't expect much. Beds were clean, rooms were clean but hot. A creaky fan and poor lighting was in my double, which was in a high floor above the seedy Souk Al-Tafiqua. Showers were in decrepit shape, if clean. Bring your own TP. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Free breakfast is served on a balcony overlooking the suq, which is nice. This hostel was what I paid for, but next time I will try somewhere else.

Even though the rooms are not as great as I expect them to be under European circumstances I think the staff are fine and honest. The beds are clean and the hostel is just the best-situated place you can have in Cairo.
