the worst hostel i have ever stayed in! the kitchen is absolutely filthy i saw big bugs in the cupboards and the fridges are caked in muck! there are signs up about washing your pots so the cleaner doesnt have to do them -- that kitchen has never seen a cleaner in its life! the girls bathroom wasnt too bad but my partner said the boys bathroom absolutely stank and was dirty and flooded. it was hard to find a decent shower in either bathroom. the guy who works there is also a bit of a tosser -- hes the one making all the noise really late at night outside the rooms not to mention the loud nightclub downstairs. there were 18 people crammed into our dorm when its advertised as 16. oh yeah and our stuff got nicked too. if you have eyes and ears dont bother coming here. — Suzie (England) (2006-11-26)

Its cheap that's the main thing but cheap isn't always the best. The dorm room i was in had 18 beds and i don't think having a TV in the room with 18 people is such a good idea! I met some nice people here but the place lacked atmosphere mainly due to the fact there was an absolute idiot in charge of the place (Shaun) who made Bazil Fawlty look like a Saint. having to "hire out" kitchen equipment did not impress me either. However the place was always clean and tidy and i have stayed at worse, but a change in managemnt was required! More effort in arranging social activities was needed, Fortitude valley is supposed to be the social capital of Brisbane but in my 2 weeks there i never went out once! — CARL (England) (2006-02-13)

This place was the best mainly because of the atmosphere. We stayed in Brissy for liek 3 weeks on and off and stayed here for a lot of that time. Good to see shaune has gone, we were then when the police came even though he was the one that started the fighting. Interested to see what the downstairs looks like since I helped plaster the walls. Cool TV room but not what youd expect. the 14 dollar room is huge and the industrial fan blowing off your covers does get a bit annoying. Bathrooms are good! and the kitchen si sufficient for the size of the hostel (although not the biggest). Very very interesting place. Hope the court yard is still there roudn the back. Oh ring of fire, we learnt you here. — Joe Bardon (2006-01-13)

The best hostel in Brisbane! I stayed there for 5 months, so i should know! Small, freindly and clean hostel in the best location. If you want to meet people, which you should when your travelling this is definitely the place to stay. I met the best people here and had the best times. I'll be back one day. — Catherine (2005-12-07)
Our room always smelled (mostly because of boys), and the overflowing air-conditioner soaked the carpet, which then went moldy. There was mess everywhere, so the room was never properly cleaned, and there was lots of rubbish/unowned property lying around. The kitchen was tiny, and needs to be cleaned more often and the bin emptied. Whenever we got plates and cutlery from reception they were really dirty, and there was never washing up liquid or drying cloths. The fridge really needs to be emptied as it smelled rank, and food was impossible to find — it not big enough for the number of people. Also, people were fitted into rooms like sardines, and there was no way to tell which beds were free, as they were covered in other people's belongings or still had sheets on them. The staff walked into the rooms without knocking, and vacuumed when people were still asleep — not good for people working night shifts. They need rules about noise — stop loud music after 11 p.m., for example. But the bathrooms were good and big, and generally quite clean, and the big TV was good, even if there was no choice about what we were allowed to watch because one person decided. — Anonymous (2005-05-13)

The best hostel in Brisbane, I would say. I will definitely stay there again soon. — Jackie (2004-12-19)
