Hostelz.com's Review
Chill House is a cool, funky hostel, well located in Buenos Aires. The energetic and high-quality staff are friendly, outgoing, and available at all times for information about the city and any other guest needs. In addition to Spanish, the staff are fluent in English and French. The hostel is secure, with front-door entry only possible after first buzzing in from the street. Strong Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel, including the rooms. There is a really great rooftop patio with great views of the city. Typical South American breakfast with bread, butter and jam, coffee, milk, tea, and oranges you can squeeze for fresh juice is provided. A minimum two-night stay is required.

The Location

If coming from the airport, it would be best to take a taxi or private minibus. The hostel is two-blocks from the Line B metro, convenient for getting to all of the sights in Buenos Aires, and particularly close to the popular Recoleta and Palermo neighborhoods. The large Abasto shopping mall and a gigantic supermarket are a five-minute walk from the hostel. There are shops, bars, and restaurants all around.

Rooms and Bathrooms

A six-bed dorm as well as private rooms are available. The dorm room is clean, relatively spacious, and large lockers are provided, though there is no window in the room. The beds and pillows are comfortable. The room is secure and lockable. The bathrooms are clean and are for one person only, so there is sufficient space to change clothes. There is plenty of hot water in the showers.

Common Spaces

There is a large, cozy lounge on the main floor. There are couches, tables, and a desk with two computers available for guest use. This is a really comfortable space that's conducive to meeting other travelers. There is also a courtyard area in the center of the main floor that has tables and chairs and a bench. This courtyard is open, so if it rains, it rains right into the courtyard. There is a small kitchen available for use, a secure luggage storage and an extensive book exchange. Chill House is not a party hostel, but it is social and caters well to both backpackers and vacationers.

Chill House is a great place to relax and "chill" out after a day of roaming the streets of Buenos Aires. The only downside is that when it rains, it rains into the open courtyard, which you must walk through to get to the rooms and the back portion of the hostel. This is really only a minor inconvenience, though. There was an issue with smoking being permitted in the courtyard, which could cause smoke to waft into the first floor rooms, including the lounge; however, the staff has recently changed its policy and now only permits smoking on the rooftop terrace.

1  Terrible. Unless you are a heavy smoker who revels in inconsideration, save your money. Everyone (including in my room) smoked and the staff not only did nothing about it, they chain smoked too. The roof leaked, the place was filthy, and the front desk was barely helpful. No atmosphere. I checked out by nightfall. Skip it, I paid to.  , Guam ()
5  The people at Chill are amazing! It's just like the name suggests. Amazing people that feel like your friends more than "hostel mates." Great vibe, great people, amazing accommodations, and even better music (thank you Antoine!). The hostel is clean, organized, and very laid-back! Have a cocktail on the roof-patio for me!  ()
