Stayed here many times 1993-96 loved it what a place, a what a great story teller peter is. i even started my honeymoon there in 1996 (divorced now, nothing to do with peters place). — fabian (fab) , australia ( irish by birth) (2011-07-12)
Stay Away I took part in the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle on 2/07/11. The group I was with stopped up outside this place for a quick coffee. Because there was a water stop for the cycle a few hundred metres down the road, many cyclists had thrown the bottles to the side of the road (nobody from my group did) the owner came out and verbally abused us and proceeded to throw one of the bottles he had picked up at a passer by that reminded him that the cycle was a charity event. He then ejected a few members of my group from the cafe as well as verbally abusing one of his own staff members. A very nasty man and I would advise Failte Ireland to investigate, I would be mortified if a tourist encountered this mans poor attitude. If he had any business acumen, he would have realised that he could have made a tidy profit given the numbers participating in the cycle. My advice would be to find somewhere else. Waterville is a beautiful place, it would be a shame if this man gave it a bad name. — Graham Tuohy , Ireland (2011-07-04)

Just awesome! This is the most relaxed Hostel I've been so far. Talking to Peter, enjoying that charming atmosphere. You just feel like at home staying in his personal living room. Thanks Peter, it was really a pleasure staying here! — Joerg , german (2009-04-27)

Just great!!! Decoration and hospitality 10+. We had a wonderful time listening to Peter's stories while he was making scones for the next day. — Direr Delphine/Marco van Kampen (2005-08-05)

I've been there twice, in 1993 and 1998. I really loved the relaxed atmosphere and the feeling of always being welcome, even when Peter wasn't around. Just take a bed and be comfortable. You can talk with so many people from all over the world. I will be back within a few years. — Peter van Keeken, Holland (2005-07-20)

I really enjoyed my time at Peter's Place. The hostel, the atmosphere, and its location are perfect. The best parts were Peter and his home-baked treats. A good place to lay back and take time to enjoy what's around you and chat with interesting people. :) — Pilar (2005-06-17)
