Description
Kàbáta is the first hostel in downtown San Pedro and is 100% Costa Rican family owned and operated by a bilingual staff. We'll give you the best advice as to where to go and what to do in this beautiful country, because we practice adventure activities and do expeditions all over the country. The word "kàbáta" means mountain in one of the native Costa Rican languages, and we are proud of our beautifully conserved mountains and jungles. We would like to provide a place for you to stay as you enjoy and explore these magnificent places with the backpackers of the world.

Our beautiful Art-Deco style house is located in a nice-and-quiet neighborhood where you can walk safely at night. However, it is only a couple of blocks away from the University of Costa Rica, Outlet American Mall, Mall San Pedro, banks, ATMs, shops, art galleries, cinemas, fast food restaurants as well as more formal places to eat. If you are interested in a night on the town, La Calle de la Amargura -with bars like Jazz Café, Terra U, Caccio's, La Villa, Mosaikos, etc.- is where all the college students hang out, and is definitely the place to go. There is night life for every taste, be it noisy and loud or calm and more quiet. In all of these bars you can drink, eat, dance, and meet people that like to party or relax like you do!!!

If you have a large group, are a Scout, Red Cross or Fire/Rescue personnel, let us know we have a special rate for you. Contact us for details!

Come stay with us at Kàbáta Hostel and discover Costa Rica, and all that makes this little country wonderfull! Pura Vida!!!

5 Kabata Hostel is clean and the owners are great (Mauricio, Federico and Katya). Mauricio set up our 18-day itinerary before we left home and he did a fantastic job especially with keep the budget low. Costa Rica was one of the most adventurious trip we've had. Mauricio and the gang really try to accommodate the travellers. Well done! Pura Vida!

5 Kabata was awesome! The owner was so kind, helpful, and genuine. He drove us around — even to the grocery store — and helped us with travel and arrangements in other cities. No detail was overlooked. I was so impressed and grateful. Thanks again Kabata!
