Central Blue Mountains Backpackers

Staff unfriendly and worse still, I was bitten very badly on my face and my neck by bedbugs. I have been in australia for three weeks and stayed in only two places, first in sydney (no bedbugs) and second in Katoomba. I was bitten during my second and last night. Check your mattress/sheets/pillow for blood stains before sleeping. bedbugs only come out at night! To treat the bites, I have had to use some antihistamine tablets and steroid cream and still they are red and itchy after several days. In my next hostel, I'll be more careful.

The night I stayed the hostel operator had several of his friends over who spent the day getting drunk in the common room and then passing the night by being loud and inconsiderate to the other guests. Combined with the constant slamming of doors, stomping through the halls, and a couple fighting several rooms away at 2:00 a.m., my wife and I were barely able to sleep. We checked out a day early to avoid another night in the frat house scene. The place was okay as far as facilities, with the exception of one of the single bathrooms that was rather disgusting and the shared bathroom not having toilet paper or soap to wash your hands. There isn't carpet on the floors or anything on the walls to absorb noise so all the sounds of the place carry right into your room. It was the worst night of sleep we have ever had in a hostel and we've stayed in many over the last several weeks. For all these reasons I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone.

Avoid this hostel!! It has no atmosphere!!!
