The Hostelz.com Review
C&N Backpackers Ucluelet is a good starting point for hikes in Ucluelet and in the nearby Pacific Rim National Park.

The Location

It's a ten-kilometer drive from the tourist information to reach the hostel. It lies at the entry of the village of Ucluelet. Approximately one kilometer away there is a fish and ships snack bar and fresh fish is available only few minutes away from the hostel. The hostel is easy to find, when entering Ucluelet, because it lies on the main road and a sign indicates the direction. In case you haven't prebooked you can ask at the tourist information if there are still beds available. The hostel lies in the middle of woods. It consists of a nice wooden house with two floors. Parking lots are just in front of the hostel.

If the main door isn't open you can come in via the cellar door, but it is saved by an entry code, which you will get at the reception desk.

Rooms and Bathrooms

When you come in you have to put out your shoes, so you can't make lots of noise and you won't bring the dirt in with you. Shoes are forbidden in the whole building, you'll have to leave them next to the front door. Slippers aren't allowed to, so the hostel is clean (as you are cleaning the whole building with your socks. The two dorm rooms are on the second floor. The three private rooms are on the first floor. During high season all dorm rooms are mixed dorms. In each dorm there are six bunk beds for twelve persons -- all in all twenty-four beds, no wardrobe and only one table. Free linen is provided.

The showers and some of the toilets are downstairs (cellar), but there are also toilets on the second floor, so you won't have to go into the cellar to go on the toilet. In the cellar (basement) you can find four small rooms each with a toilet and a shower. They are relatively clean and simply furnished.

Common Spaces

In the basement you can also find the kitchen and the TV, which is located in on corner of the kitchen. In the evenings people meet there to cook and watch TV together. There is a nice sofa to enjoy the film but you'll have to come early as only few comfortable seats are available. As the walls are very thin, it's not so nice going on the toilet, while the TV-session just in front of the bathroom door is going to take place. On the first floor there is a internet corner, an old armchair to enjoy the beautiful view over the garden and a little lounge to sit and enjoy one of the books from the shelf in the hostel. Here you can also find the reception and the room of the receptionist. The hostel offers a washing machine.

Summary

It is small house with a very familiar atmosphere, with a large garden where you can sit and enjoy the trees and the lake (private beach). Even so, twelve persons per room are quite a lot, but we've had a good night's rest in this hostel. From the location in the middle of nature and with this wonderful garden it's been one of the nicest hostels we've had the luck to visit.

5  It's not a hostel it's a resort I traveled all over the world and I can say that C&N Ucluelet is the best place I ever been. the hostel is great -- waterfront -- a huge park to enjoy the setting, the rooms are clean and nice, the staff were super helpful, they have internet access, parking. the cool thing is that you are in the wilderness, across the street starts the pacific trail, however steps away from shops and restaurants.  , Germany ()
5  Wow! What a gem Hostel is very clean, friendly staff, and amazing garden make it a wonderful place to stay while exploring the Pacific Rim. The property is waterfront so you don't have to travel far to get to the salt water of the ocean to cool off on a sunny day. I like the no shoes policy in hostel and I was surprised I was able to wear my slippers, so i really felt at home. The garden made me feel like I was staying at a resort or a park with the tables, lounge chairs, and hammocks. If you are heading to Ucluelet I recommend this hostel. Thanks Aaron we had a great time sitting around the fire eating smores with you and the other guests.  , Canada ()
5  C&N Hostel-Ucluelet made us stay three days longer that we had planned. The Hostel it self is clean and beautiful. The dorms are fine but go for the private rooms! The showers are clean and the kitchen is perfect! The garden is really great, surrounded by forest and ocean! At night the traditional swim and sitting by the campfire with other guests having a good time talking and drinking. But it comes all alive because of Aron, the stressed manager of C&N with a memory of a goldfish (all his words). Aron is such a great guy with lots of humour. Go there and find out yourself, you won’t be disappointed!  ()
5  In a beautiful setting surrounded by wood carvings and decked gardens, trails and barbecues, leading down to the sea. The environmental and wooded theme is reflected inside too making it feel like a Swiss chalet. Enthusiastic and helpful owner with a passion for this place. Clean, friendly and comfortable with huge farm house table in the kitchen making for a sociable stay. Large showers/bathrooms. Easy to get to all west coast activities and beach trails. If you only have one night to stay on the island - make this the place!  ()
