2  Place was a dump The hostel was dirty, most staff unhelpful, pretty noisy -- but then it's a hostel. Hot water was virtually nonexistent as was water at times, staff didn't seem to think this was a big deal. Good location but not so much else going for it, a backpackers sign in the window would have been appropriate.  , Canada ()
4  I wish they wouldnt allow alcohol (makes for a bit more noise at night) but the staff spoke english/spanish all three shifts and couldnt have worked any harder at being helpful and friendly to me. (My first time alone in Mexico.) Breakfast was cold cereal and toast, coffee, and spread for toast. if you ate it you didnt have to eat for a few hours into the day -- saved money. it was adequate and prompt. served for several hours too. I stayed almost two weeks recently (March 2007) and would do so again (plan to this winter). The location is great! Internet and long distance cafe two doors down and money changers right next door. Huge Historic Cathedral, Humongous Shopping Center and plazas as well as McDonalds and 7/11s a few blocks away! I loved it!  ()
4  Excellent location, clean, and friendly. Attracts international crowd, and hostel staff is very helpful. Dorm rooms are a bit snug, but other than that, this is a great place to stay while in Guadalajara.  ()
2  Hostel Guadalajara Centro is a colorful place, lots of interesting people hanging around, but if the smell of marijuana, and excessive drinking bothers you, you might look for other places. (Though we were amused that the desk guy offered us a shot of tequila at the check-in!). The staff were interesting and helpful, but definitely not after about 9:30 at night, when they were drunk/high. We don't speak much Spanish, but there was always someone there who was able to help us out. The noise level was more than usual at the hostels, and even though they had signs posted about "quiet hours after 11," the hostel staff was usually a playing loud music after hours. Like a shower with hot water? The showers are communal, and pump only cold water if more than one person is using the shower at a time. I took mostly cold showers. I spent some time at this hostel around Xmas, and the experience in Guadalajara was wonderful. But if I return to Guadalajara, I'll look for another hostel or perhaps a cheap hotel. GDL was a great experience. The hostel experience was not all that fabulous (less fabulous than usual!), but we didn't let it ruin our trip.  ()
5  This is certainly the funniest and most active hostel I have ever been. I was there for only two days and had the most entertaining time ever in a hostel. I got to know a lot of people from all over the world. The administration organizes events and tours every single day. I took the one to the town of Tequila and it was absolutely great. I also went with some guys and girls to a bar; they made a reservation for all of us at no extra charge. Finally, a visit to the Mexican Wrestling Arena. In addition, it has the best location in Guadalajara. The breakfast is not that good, but it is ok.  ()
2  This hostel is so noisy that you never get any sleep. Breakfast is very poor. You can get a hotel in the same area for less money, where you can stay much better.  ()
