Description
Welcome to Hedonisia Hawaii Hostel. We offer budget vacation rentals in Hawaii for those who wish to enjoy an affordable Hawaiian holiday in the Rainforest and yet be near to the ocean.

Our Hawaiian lodgings are ideal for those who wish to enjoy a beautiful jungle vacation in the heart of the Big Island yet be close to all the major attractions of East Hawaii such as Kapoho Warm Ponds or the fiery hot volcanic Lava Flows of nearby Kilauea Volcano. Our location is very convenient for both vacationers and volunteers alike. The quaint "New Age Hippie" town of Pahoa is only 4 miles away. And so is the ocean!

We also offer a Fair-Trade Hawaii Volunteer/Tourist Program for those who wish to enjoy a place to stay in our jungle paradise at little cost. Visitors have the opportunity to contribute to projects involving Organic Landscaping, Jungle Restoration, Permaculture and Environmental Rehabilitation. Only 3 hours of Volunteer Work per day for one night accommodation. Many people from all over the world come to Hawaii to volunteer in exchange for lodging!

Visitors can come as a Guests and then stay on to Volunteer or vice versa. You can also do a partial Volunteer Exchange and just pay for a part of the stay and work for part of the stay. This is a very popular option for many Guests especially those who wish to stay for a longer period. Our lodging prices are very affordable!

Hedonisia Hawaii is very unique; as part of our eco-friendly policies we only have 10 bedspaces on 3.72 acres of land in lush, tropical Hawaii. This allows us to avoid overcrowding and to ensure that each guest can enjoy a quiet natural experiece. This makes us very different from most hostels which tend to be packed as full as possible.

Internet Access. - Low Cost Highspeed DSL Internet Access is available! Use our desktop or bring your wireless enabled laptop and you can get online. Only $10 flat-fee for unlimited use.

There are 3.72 acres of Hedonisia land for Guests to explore or, if you are a Volunteer, to restore. The land includes a gigantic volcanic crater with a mini-jungle at the bottom.

Guests and Volunteers have shared bathroom and kitchen facilities with the exception of those who are renting the 1-Bedroom Jungle Cottage who have their own private facilities.

Both Guests and Volunteers enjoy Free outgoing local and Toll-free calls.

5 A truly unique place -- gives one a real chance to be out in the nature but also having the modern day conveniences like kitchen, sleeping facilities. Being eco-friendly is a part of life out here -- that's what makes this place so great for me. Also, the people who run the hostel are like a family - it's like a small community in the middle of rain forest!

2 Mosquitoes were terrible. if you don't have a car, the hitchhiking option is hit and miss. Best bet, stay away from the outdoor tent spaces, the "Sunnyside" tent space is by an abandoned road-grader and you can smell diesel. The "Jungle Shade" is on an uneven, very uncomfortable bed of pallets. An air mattress might make this more comfortable, but let me repeat, the mosquitoes are voracious. To wash clothes plan on $6 per load. Unless you have a car, you won't be able to explore the island as it deserves. There has been burglary here of previous guests belongings and there is no secure place to put your things. If on foot, the better idea is to stay in Hilo or the Kona side so you can at least ride the bus easily to different destinations.
