I stayed here when I first arrived in Sydney and although I was feeling shy and timid at the time, and this hostel made me feel right at home. It is quite basic and the kitchen and living area are small, but it has everything you need and is a good location in the city.

I think the Wood Duck Inn is by far the friendliest hostel in oz! OK, some people complain about the kitchen; OK, some people complain about the dorms; but it is very clean and the friendly, and the helpful staff make up for all else. They go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

I thought the place was great. Good atmosphere, and the reception lady was great at providing what we needed. The only drawback was that one of the windows was broken and it took them ages to fix it, and the kitchen was pretty dirty. Still, a great find for so cheap!

I think this hostel is a bit overrated. Too many Dutch people (hostel is affiliated with a Dutch travel organization) and a small, messy kitchen. I also thought the dorms were too big (10-12 beds), very uncomfortable matresses and not very clean either. Still, we had to pay around $23 a night, which I think is a bit too much.
