Cholderton Farm is located only 4 miles from Stonehenge and 8 miles from Salisbury with its wonderful Medieval Cathedral and restored town buildings. Our hostel, with lots of character makes a great alternative place to stay and is especially suited to families and groups.
We provide a comfortable, friendly hostel with 70 beds.
The hostel is a converted and extended farm house that overlooks a wonderful rare breeds farm that is open to the public. With animals to see, parks to play in and a woodland to walk through, it is a great place to stay.
Guests are welcome to check-in any time after 4pm. Please telephone us to arrange key collections for arrivals after 8pm.

| Location | •By car: • • A303 from London/Andover • • Exit the A303 at junction signed 'Hungerford, Marlborough A346 and Salisbury A338'. Continue through the village of Cholderton following the brown signs for Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm where we are situated. • • A303 from Amesbury • • Continue on A303 towards Andover. After approximately 3 miles, exit the A303 on slip road signed 'Hungerford, Marlborough A346 and Salisbury A338'. At the end of the slip road, turn right onto the A338 towards Cholderton. Continue through the village of Cholderton following the brown signs for Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm where we are situated. • • From Salisbury (Approx 20 mins) • • Leave Salisbury via the A30 London Road. Continue on A30 to roundabout. Take the first exit off the roundabout signed A338 Swindon/Marlborough and The Winterbournes. Continue through The Winterbournes following all signs for A338 Marlborough and Swindon. Continue on A338 through Porton and Allington towards the village of Cholderton. When you enter the village of Cholderton, take the first turn on the left following the sign for 'Rare Breeds Farm' where we are situated. • • • Only 4 miles from Stonehenge. • • Large car park available, able to accommodate coaches. • • Follow the brown tourist information signs to the 'Rare Breeds Farm'. • • Travel by Bus: if you go to Stonehenge or Amesbury there are buses every 20-30mins most days (journey approx 35 mins) and taxi from there is approx £10 (sharing up to 6). • • From Salisbury to Cholderton on the 63 or 63X, with Wilts and Dorset bus company, hourly Monday-Saturday (quarter past the hour), no service on a Sunday, no service in the evenings. Get off at the Crown Pub and it is a 20 minute walk to the hostel. Follow the brown 'rare breeds farm' signs. • A link to the bus timetable is below: • http://www.wdbus.co.uk/htm/ttNorthern/index-n.asp • • Coach to Heathrow and Gatwick 1.5-2 hours from Salisbury. You can also get on the Heathrow Express from the Central Bus Terminal at Heathrow. The coach will take you to Woking and then you will have to get on a train to Grateley. • • Travel by train: Salisbury (on the Waterloo to Exeter train line) is 9 miles, bus to Stonehenge, taxi from Amesbury. • Grateley station (stop before Salisbury) is only 3 miles on foot. (Follow signs right to Cholderton from the station.) Taxi from Grateley costs about £12, book one in advance. • • In the evening from Salisbury you can get a bus to Amesbury and then get a taxi to the hostel (approx. £7 from Amesbury, £25 from Salisbury. Can be for up to 6 people sharing.) • • A local taxi firm can be called on 01980 626666 tell them the youth hostel sent you!! |
