Description
The Association's only hostel on Hong Kong Island is located on the upper slopes of Mount Davis in Western District from where there are commanding views over Victoria Harbour, the Kowloon Peninsula and to the hills beyond.
A substantial donation from the Hong Kong Jockey Club enabled a purpose-built 111 bed hostel to be completed in 1981 on this site the popularity of which is such that New Wing Extension, which contain 58 beds has been started using with the generous support again of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust in 2000 and the Club Safety Ordinance work at the end of 2001.

Due to its relative proximity to the urban areas, this hostel has long been popular with overseas visitors for whom it constitutes a convenient base from which to embark upon a variety of shopping and sight seeing trips. It also provides an idea and relaxed venue for our local members to meet with foreigners to hone their language skills and understanding of life and leisure activities in a variety of differing cultural environments.

Take hostel shuttle bus at the shuttle bus stand, located on the G/F of Shun Tak Centre (HK$10 per person per trip, first come first served). Shuttle bus schedule is as follows:

Take bus #5A from Admiralty or mini-bus #54 from Outlying Island Ferry Terminal at Central, alighting near the junction of Victoria Road and Mt. Davis Path. Walk back 100m from bus stop and walk uphill along Mt. Davis Path (not Mt. Davis Road) for approximately 35 minutes to hostel;
3.
HK$180 per trip for using the 24-seat shuttle bus outside the above schedule. For booking, please call2788 1638.

The cleaning lady just walks around, cooks for herself in the kitchen all the day and never cleans that property! The toilets, kitchen, and rooms are so dirty and the staff ask the paying guests (it is not so cheap) to clean the hostel. — backpackonline (2008-11-08) Booked to stay at this hostel with a hostels website, but decided to stay more central because some great deals to be had if you shop around. Sent two e-mails to cancel three days before due there as the terms of cancellation state. Six weeks later, two days' money comes out of my account. They say they have not received e-mails. Totally uncooperative in correspondence since. Beware of this hostel or you might get ripped off too. A shame because all the other hostels we stopped in around the world have been good. Stop more central.
