I visited Nananuira back in 1993. We stayed at the MacDonald Beach Cottage for seven days. Loved the snorkeling, beautiful sunsets, quiet walks on the beach -- and I mean quiet! If you are looking for nightlife, this is not the island for you. I was 28 when I was last there with friends and we were looking for a little nightlife (not here). Great for honeymooners or just some alone time for yourself. Now at 43 I would probably appreciate a lot more the peace and quiet and serenity of the island. Looking to travel back to this island, I have very fond memories.

I've traveled to Fiji many times, and I rate this wonderful little place very highly ... perfect for those on a budge. The villas are well appointed and the beach and snorkeling are magic. There is quite a good reef just off the jetty! Admittedly not a 5 star palace ... but a really good value stay. :)

I loved the island of Nananu-i-ra. The snorkeling was great but I stayed at McDonalds beach cottages and was treated fairly badly. I was left on my own, with no help from anyone. The manager is a big fat women by the name of Maxine who was hostile and impolite. I will never stay there again and have no idea how any one could possibly work for that old hag!!! Unless they are forced to? I loved the island of Nananu-i-ra but will never stay again at McDonalds. I hope they look for a new manager!!! The rest of the island is so amazing. I hope you enjoy it!!!

Tranquil, quiet, a great place to meditate and enjoy the slow life! Relax... it's a priceless, low key experience.

There is absolutely nothing to do on this island, except walk around and get pissed. Because it's an island, there's no electricity after about 8pm, so then it's boring AND dark. The hostel is ok, though. Don't stay more than a day, however.
