The Hostelz.com Review
Talk about a room with a view! The Pella Inn hostel has the most amazing view of the Acropolis that you could ask for. And at night, when it is all lit up, it's simply breathtaking.
Pella's staff are super friendly, more than happy to give you directions to anywhere you could want to go. They even have little maps that they'll markup with the best route to take.
The rooms are nice and clean. It has mostly doubles, triples, and quads, but they do have a few dorms available. The bathrooms were also very nice and clean, with plenty of hot water. The shower head is the type that hangs down, but it's a small price to pay.
Sadly, no breakfast was included here. However, the prices in Athens make it an acceptable trade off ($1.50 Gyros!).
Aside from the view, the hostel is also a very quick walk to the Acropolis, so if that's your main reason for visiting Athens, this may be the perfect hostel for you. In fact, it's a pretty quick walk to many of the attractions in the city including the newly reopened National Archeological Museum, which cannot be recommended enough.

DIRTY!!! RUDE STAFF That is the worst hostel I have ever stayed!!! We came at night, the staff was rude. If not late hours we would move somewhere else. AC was not working. We paid add fee for private WC what in fact ment having in your room a handbasin with cold water. Cockroaches, spiders and other insects!!! Watch out!!! — Anonymous , Poland (2011-09-27)
Great for student backpackers, but for adults not so much Web site is inaccurate & needs updating -- no breakfast under new management. Rooms are very spare, no dresser to put clothes, and showers have no enclosure. Bathrooms are kept clean but two of the bathroom doors would not lock. New management is uneven. Night staff was pleasant but booking staff which did not have our reservation, which was made and confirmed through Venere (a reputable website), & tried to make us feel it was somehow our fault ("we didn't get all the website registrations from the old owners so you are lucky to get a room"). Inexperienced & young ownership. Good for a cheap stay if you are a college student and don't expect service, but other hotels nearby will have better infrastructure for not much more. — Anonymous , USA (2011-06-06)

Good location This hotel has a very good location (two minutes by foot from the Plaka). The rooms have a great view (the acropolis). The room are sufficiently clean but the shared bathrooms are too small. Considered price, it is a good choice. — Pezzente , Italy (2008-08-26)
One of the worst ever Don't ever EVER think of staying in Pella Inn if you don't want your holiday to be disgusting. We have been around more than one hundreds and this war by far one of the worst. That's why -- the fat woman at the reception will try to steal your money in any way she could. One night in a double room is 45 euro. I gave her two species of 50 Euros as I wanted to pay for two nights, so I expected 10 Euro back. She gave me 5 Euro back in order to let me intend that I paid for 1 night as she received only 1 specy of 50 Euro. After arguing she recognized I gave her two species of 50 Euros, paid for two nights and gave me back 10 Euros. Do you want experiences like this on your holiday? She is also the most impolite person in the world, arguing for everything and, as she does not speak a good English, when she does not understand she will tell you -- "Now go in your room!" The guy that is at reception at night (from around 8 p.m.) is much more kinder. Then, all the building is going to collapse soon, rooms are the filthiest and dustiest ever seen, I couldn't breathe at night for that!! Black beetles on the stairs (that can go in the rooms as well) and last but not least the hotel is in the noisiest room of Athens, absolutely impossible to sleep without ear plugs, difficult with them as well. Believe me, don't stay there! The view is nice, but is not worth this hell, take a stroll at night to see Acropolis by night and then go in another hotel without view. — Davide & Michela - Chaivari ( Ge ) Italy , Italian (2007-10-10)

Great view, clean rooms, decent price They're not kidding. Great view on rooftop, especially sunset -- night. I hung out there for nearly the whole night. Private rooms are very very clean. No air conditioning in my room. Great location, right near Monastraki station, and very close to Acropolis. For 40 euros a private room, it's not bad at all. The lady at the front is not very nice. I think she has an attitude problem though, I suppose she built that up dealing with all those tourists. One more thing -- not too many backpackers here -- not a very social hostel. At least when I was here. — Jason from Toronto , Canada (2007-06-18)

For the money, it's great! Remember, I said for the money. The rooms were clean but spartan. The shared washrooms were clean as well. The view, on the other hand, is superb! I had a clear unobstructed view of the Acropolis from my room. They have a little used rooftop patio which has superb views as well. The location is also ideal. Conclusion. If you're main goal is to find cheap, clean, and central accomodation in Athens then you should strongly consider this place. If you have a few more dollars to spend then you should consider the Attalos or the Cecil just down the street. Enjoy Athens! — The Greek Wanderer (2006-07-02)

The view is unbelievable, and the first time I was there they let us bring other travelers, but when I stayed there for a night on my way home they were being really strict. "No friends on the roof!!" The beds were also really uncomfortable, and the room hot. This hostel's location is definitely its saving grace and the woman at the front desk extremely helpful. — Canadian gal (2006-03-16)

The five stars should be seen in connection with the price and the location. It's very close to the lively Monastiraki Square and trains and a myriad of small shops and flea market stalls. And there's a view of Acropolis from your private balcony or from the hotel rooftop. If you go by ordinary star terms you must be prepared that only half of the bed lamps work and my mother would describe the rooms as rather plain. But I just love them. — Hans V. Bischoff, Denmark and Syros (2005-09-10)

I can't believe they don't have a picture of the roof or the view from it. You can see right across Athens to the surrounding mountains and the sea, and what's more it is right next to the Acropolis, which is beautiful at night when it is all lit up.
The area is really nice, it feels safe and there are loads of nice shops, restaurants and bars on the next road. It is walking distance up to the Acropolis and the other ruins.
The rooms are fine, clean and simple and there are lots of showers and toilets, which are also very clean. The lady there was very sweet and the breakfast room is nice. The view alone and the roof terrace made this one of the best hostels I have ever been to. — Emma (2005-06-21)

I stayed at the Pella-Inn with my boyfriend at the tail end of the Olympic period in Sept 2004. Though Athens was still swarming with tourists, this hotel offered very reasonable rates for a double room with a balcony that boasted an incredible view of the Acropolis. The room itself was relatively large and best of all, it was clean. Air conditioning was included in the room price, and the Bulgarian receptionist whom attended to us was lovely, even when we roused her at 5 a.m. to checkout. Have a look at Eye Worry, the shop next door. If you're shopping for genuine Japanese table settings and other knick-knacks, you can find them here for a steal! Convenient location, particularly when stumbling home late at night from Monastiraki. Geia sas! — Anonymous (2005-05-31)
