A small unit that's part of a holiday park, Cathedral Cove Backpackers is a basic but perfectly adequate accommodation option for exploring the beautiful Coromandel Penninsula. The unit has a few small dorms, seperate male and female bathrooms and a kitchen/dining area. There is a patio area with a BBQ outside. There are further facilities situated within the holiday park that are available for use. The accommodation is very clean and tidy.
Cathedral Cove backpackers is just a few minutes' walk from a beautiful beach, from which it is possible to walk the coastal path to the spectacular Cathedral Cove. Alternatively, there is a sea-kayaking option. Enquire at the holiday park for the best rates. The famous Hahei hot water beach is nearby where at low tide you can dig yourself pool and soal in the natural hot springs.
The Coromandel Penninsula has generally limited access by public transport as it is quite remote. Therefore, access to the hostel would probably be best for those travelling in a private vehicle.
