The Hostelz.com Review
This hostel has all that you want from a hostel. It's conveniently located, very well priced, and has excellent information about getting around Singapore. Whether arriving by bus or plane, it's easy to reach. Go to the nearest MRT station and alight a BUGIS station. From there, cross the road and take the next right onto North Bridge Road. The hostel is 100 meters up on the left.
Upon arrival you are shown the shower area, free internet and kitchen area (there is free toast and tea provided on a morning), and finally your room. The hostel is quite large, situated on three floors, but there are only six showers in the building, so there may be a wait for a shower at times. At the very top of the building there is a rooftop bar which is open til approximately 12:30 -- be warned if you are in one of the double rooms next to it and have an early start. The hostel has a good atmosphere and the are always people milling about to talk to and learn travel information from.
The rooms are quite small but clean and the hostel presentation overall is hygenic. At the reception desk there are many pamphlets and leaflets for you browse through and any information you cannot find in those you can enquire about and the staff will happily help.
Situated close to the hostel is Raffles Hotel as well as Orchard Road - the main shopping area of Singapore. The MRT trains can get you to any part of the city that you wish to see in a short time. The zoo, bird park, and night safari are all recommended - and if you buy a joint ticket you can do them all for a little cheaper. A trip in the cable car to Sentosa Island on the Southern tip also gives you a great panoramic view of Singapore.
In summary, it's a good hostel to stay at as the information is first class, the price is right, the rooms are more than passable, and it's in the heart of where you need to be in Singapore.

Discriminating An Asian and a Westerner both were checking in the same time. Both gave the passport to check-in. Asian's passport has been photocopied, but another has the name written on log book. Asked the receptionist for an answer and guess what. "My boss gave order to have Asians' passport photocopied." Sense of discrimination here. — - , Asia Pacific (2009-02-20)
Only stay if you're on a budget Only stay here if you're on a budget since Singapore is expensive. For 12 SGD you can get a bed on the roof. But for 14 SGD you can stay in an a/c dorm. I recommend getting the 12 SGD bed on the roof since its not as cramp as the tiny a/c dorms. Yes theres free internet but since there are only three computers and a lot of people staying there, there's usually a very long wait. I just went around the corner to an internet cafe. Also toilets should have toilet paper or at least a hose. But none of the toilets have anything to clean yourself with. There isnt any paper or hose. How do they expect us to use the toilet? sometimes I let other travelers staying there have some of my toiler paper. I found the staff to be very rude. Usually when I'm staying in hostels and plan to stay longer I oversleep and pay later. But since check out time is at 11 a.m. the lady who works there literally barged into my room, turned on the lights while I was sleeping, and started shouting at me saying it was time to check out. After I told her "book me for one more night" she said "ok" then walked out. Only thing I liked was that its cheap for Singapore and it's in a great location with everything you need close by. — Alex , Los Angeles, USA (2008-07-01)
Bedbugs and dirty, noisy dorms I arrived in Singapore late at night and ended up staying at the Cozy Corner Hostel. I was put in a dorm on the roof, which seems to be a new addition based on the photos on this site. The mattresses were filthy, but the sheets were clean enough. The first night was very noisy from the numerous fans in the room and people sitting out on the terrace. Otherwise it was ok. The second night was hell. When the lights in the room finally went off I noticed movement on the wall near my head. I turned on my flashlight and found a large bedbug. A quick search of the wall turned up another four bedbugs. I then stripped the sheets off the bed and discovered a few more on the mattress. I headed down to the reception and explained the situation. They brought up a "new" mattress and switched it for mine. I didn't see any more bugs that night and I didn't wake up with any bites, but I found some more crawling on the bed frame after I woke up. At that point I decided to leave the hostel ASAP and so I took my bag out onto the terrace and went through it very thoroughly. I found two bugs hiding in seams on the outside of the bag. Otherwise it looked clean, but of course there were probably small ones that I missed hiding inside. So, thanks to this hostel I'm going to have to wash and dry everything in the bag that I can and toss out the rest before I go home. Another person staying in the dorm said he had also been bitten and they changed his mattress as well. From the looks of it, I probably got his mattress the second night! I don't know if this place used to be a lot nicer, but it's pretty dumpy now. The only thing it really has going for it is the price. Buyer beware, though. — Andrew Carter , USA (2007-08-08)

Its a great place to stay. Clean, friendly staff, and great location. — Nick Tay , Malaysia (2007-05-02)

With 5 stars clearly overrated, at least, if you are looking for a single or double room, the price is to high for those. Some of the interior rooms without window would not meet the Geneva conventions for prison cells.
Looked decently clean. I would not leave valuables in the rooms, as they seem to be left open and unguarded during the day. Counter staff was very friendly and helpful. As a single or couple rather pay 20-30 more and get a really nice room in little india. — Traveller, 41 (2006-10-12)

For $32/night for a private room, it's okay. I think they should get new bed sheets. My friend said there were bedbugs (we were staying in different rooms). Breakfast is free. If you have a laptop with a wireless card it's useful, because people are always queuing up for the free Internet. The staff people in general are quite friendly. Laundry is $7/load. — Lee (2005-04-10)

You may pay just a few dollars more but the difference is amazing compared to the surrounding hovels. It's clean, friendly, safe and professional. Also free Internet and breakfast was thrown in at the time of this writing. — Anonymous (2005-03-13)
