The Hostelz.com Review
This is the cheapest way to stay in Berlin, and it's great if you like camping. Pitch your own tent or sleep on a cot in one of the big "dorm style" tents on the site (with about 15 people per tent). If you sleep in one of their tents they include blankets and a foam mattress, or for €1.50 more you can sleep in a bed.

There are bathroom facilities with hot water, a game tent, and a kitchen. And with the free internet computers, you're not exactly isolated from civilization. There's also a cafeteria with snack items if you don't want to walk into town to get something to eat. There are campfires in the evening and it has a relaxed, social atmosphere.

The location is just off a main road in a business and residential area. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the center of Berlin (by metro plus a bus ride to the site (or a 10-15 minute walk). The distance from the center of town is the biggest drawback to staying here. But other than that, it's a very nice and inexpensive alternative to a regular hostel. Reservations aren't necessary except for large groups.

For the price, amazing! It doesn't feel that far away from the city center, serious, we got a day pass everyday and that worked out well. The staff were super friendly and really helpful. The receptionist went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and let us have tons of mats and blankets (as many as they had to spare). The cheap breakfast was nice and the showers were awesome. We had a huge tent to ourselves (three people) but the tents smell slightly like mildew (understandably) and the floor looked a bit old but if you just view it like camping, it's great. You get used to the bugs (which weren't even that bad, and not even gross bugs). I'd totally stay here again, depending on the weather I guess. We didn't need a reservation and on weekends, the place seems to be quite happening.

We stayed here for three nights and to be honest we were a bit disappointed. It looked as if the staff didn't care too much about things as it all looked a bit rundown. The toilets/showers were clean; that is the biggest positive.

I visited Backpackers Paradise twice in July 2000 and July 2002. It's a wonderful place to discover Berlin in a very cheap way. Each night I used to meet new friends. If you like nature you'll like Backpackers Paradise.

I stayed there last year and I must say that it is a really relaxing place. And probably the cheapest place, too. You can rent a bicycle and explore the city. The showers and toilets are clean, there are cooking facilities and you can buy a cheap breakfast in the morning. Washing machines and a dryer are also available. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there are interesting people to meet. Recommended.

I spent some nights at "Backpackers Paradise" during my interrail the summer of 03, and it was a really nice experience. I especially liked the campfire at night, made a great atmosphere! I didn't bother to spend any money on a bunk bed, but after one night I regreted that... hardest floor I've ever felt! The staff person was also very nice (French guy...). I really recommend it!

This place is great, especially if there are Irish people there. They made my holiday.

This is a really great place to stay. A really good atmosphere and an overall happy feeling. It is only an added bonus that it is so cheap to stay here. Highly recomended.
