Cozy but rundown I stayed for 2 nights in December 2009. To save the 19% tax you can pay $10 US instead of Chilean Pesos. The hostel is located on a quiet street about 5 blocks from the central zone. There are touts handing out brochures at the bus terminal and they give a free transfer in a mini-van to the hostel. The hostel is a bit run down and definitely "budget class." It's an old building and the wooden floors creak loudly and the bathrooms need repairs but the place is otherwise kept very clean and tidy by daily cleaning staff. The shared kitchen was filthy but there are lots of good restaurants nearby. The place is well booked so it has a lot of other travelers to keep you in good company. It seems to be particularly popular with Israeli backpackers. There is free wireless internet as well as two computers. The staff are helpful, friendly, and courteous but have limited English skills.
