My second home in Argentina
I stayed at the Estoril while doing voluntary work with children. The Hostel owners made sure I would feel at home and I got from them not less than I gave to the children. It is the perfect combination of location, warm atmosphere, and of course, a great place to stay.

Very clean, great staff, great fun!
The hostel is well located and is established in some of the six floors of a historical building, including the terrace. People usually meet at the internet/TV room or at the terrace. The staff is very friendly and helpful and always have good suggestions for nightlife and for sightseeing as well. Sometimes the elevator would not work, but it was a minor problem. I spent some days in another highly-rated hostel, but Estoril is by far the best, also according to other backpackers that I met.

We loved it!
Estoril was our (four girls) first hostel on our trip in Argentina. And we loved it. It is very clean, the staff is friendly, location perfect, the orange juice in the morning is yummy, and the sofa is a dream. (Thought about taking it with us back to Germany.) The staff is so helpful. Once, we had to get back to Buenos Aires from Mendoza involuntarily and without a booking we went straight to Estoril. Federico (owner) said "Chicas, what are you doing here again, I have no room for four." After few minutes he managed to prepare a room for us. Estoril does really feel like home! And we met so many amazing people.

Hostel Estoril is situated on Ave. de Mayo which is one of the main boulevards of Buenos Aires. Its central location means that all the key districts are about the same distance from the hostel although some might not find them quite in walking distance. I stayed in a four person dorm at the front of the hostel facing onto Ave de Mayo and it was very noisy, even late at night and early in the morning. Not so noisy that earplugs didn't fix it though. The hostel is very clean and was kept spotless throughout the day. Security is maintained twenty-four hours by staff who give access to the hostel only by entry phone. There is a good size communal lounge where it is easy to meet people and during my stay we all had a pretty good time. The hostel also has kitchen facilities and a travel desk where you can book trips to such diversions as Boca Juniors and skydiving. On the downside, if you want a party hostel this is not it. There are no organised group activities to bring everyone from the hostel together, unlike other well known Buenos Aires hostels. The hostel's internet facility is annoyingly intermittent, a fault caused by a piece of equipment easily replaced. Make sure you write long emails in notepad to avoid the frustration of losing your work. Finally, after 12 p.m. the hostel can become a bit of a hang out for the friends of the night staff. This was never a problem but I did feel it was not appropriate, they could be quite noisy too.

I've been here, and it is such a great place. I had a wonderful time. Fede, the owner, is a great person and better host. I met great people and started new friendships. It really felt like home. The staff can recommend the best places in Buenos Aires for going out in the evening (sometimes they organize groups for going out); also they have contacts for very interesting biking tours, and several other activities, even parachute jumping. Almost everything you need is within walking distance. If you're interested in tango classes, ask Fede, he knows a cheap, nice place.
