HI - Hvoll Hostel is serene, quiet, and an absolute must-visit! This location offers a two-storied rooming facility aside a one-story facility. According to the information book left in the room, the owners built the facility with the help of family and friends.
The Location
The countryside makes it worth the drive -- this place truly is in the middle of nowhere. Plus, it is one of the only reasonably priced locations in the area. Since it is close to three kilometers from the main road, it is a good idea to arrive before nightfall.
Rooms and Bathrooms
They have private bedrooms with locks on the door and multiple outlets in the room for easy charging of multiple electronics -- this is very uncommon elsewhere in Iceland. Bathrooms are clean and private but there are not very many for the number of rooms on the floor. They provide a pillow and a blanket per person. You can rent sheets or bring your own sleeping bag/sheet. The rooms range from single rooms, bunk beds, and double bunk beds.
Common Spaces
There is one common area on the top floor outside of the bathrooms one large dining area downstairs. There are three separate kitchen facilities and four sinks. They also provide two grills outside. This location is ideal for families and large groups.
Summary
The location is inconvenient for multiple nights' stay but it is a great halfway point between Vik and Skaftafell. The owners are very friendly and accommodating to married couples and single friends. This hostel comes highly recommended.

Clean, Peaceful, Great views and birdwatching A great place for a peaceful stay. There is a tremendous wealth of bird life to study, or if you're not into that, just sit out and admire the view of the Vatnajokull glacier (in Skaftafell National Park).
