Get away from the Gringo trail. This beautiful town is a super friendly, laid-back place to spend a few days. The hostel is very clean, there's a simple kitchen, and the beds have real duvets. The cats and dog will keep you company and the neighbouring horses come to look for carrot snacks while you cook. Lie back on the hammock and watch the hummingbirds hover round the feeder. They have the most comprehensive information guide to town and activities I've ever seen. We did the high mountain pass trek yesterday, which was stunning but very long! They also run a Spanish School if you need to brush up your language skills.
