The Hostelz.com Review
YHA London St Pancras' location is great, just a few blocks from the underground on a busy avenue. It is pretty safe -- there's a surveillance system and a quite new elevator. Rooms are pretty quiet, there are individual lockers inside the rooms and some more in the basement in case you need to check out and leave your bag there.

Breakfast is great. There's a laundry, kitchen, and TV room. The hostel also has internet access although it's cheaper at McDonald's. The hostel also has an exchange but there's a fee for that, so if you have the chance, exchange your money at Heathrow Airport. The staff is helpful and you can get some assistance there including tour bookings, calling cards, and underground and attraction tickets.

Now the downside -- the bathroom. It was clean although there was no sign of cleaners during our three-day stay). The shower space is really tiny -- you can't get inside and wash your hair properly, because the water flows against the wall. But it's worth it, we would definitely stay again.

Mostly excellent, except for bathrooms
Location, security, air conditioning, and the cleanliness of rooms, lounge and kitchen all deserve 5 stars. However, the state of the bathrooms rate 1 star. The shared bathrooms, at least those on the fifth floor, all have major mold problems. There are no fans, consequently they are constantly wet and steamy. The showers are small and the water hits the wall. Staff must at least check the bathrooms daily though, as there was always ample toilet paper, towels and soap.

A terrific place with super-friendly staff, great food, superb rooms, and a great lounge area. Plus, right across British Library and St Pancras station. If you're going to London, make this your place to stay!

Absolutely wonderful. I read the reviews and everything was right. This was my first time staying in a hostel and I was all by myself but I felt very secure. The guy who checked me in was very nice and friendly. Breakfast was great considering it was free. Very clean (I was nervous about cleanliness but no need to be worried!). I had a huge locker next to my bed which was by a window. Also had a bathroom in our room which was cleaned daily. Only warnings. I was alone and hoping to meet people but it was not very good for finding people to hang out. A lot of middle-aged people. However cleanliness and location were most important to me and this fully lived up to my expectations.

We had a double room with ensuite for 4 nights when we stayed in London at the end of September 2005. Our room was very clean and secure, as was the whole hostel. Our room faced the road and was on the fourth floor, noise from outside the room was negliable. The staff were helpful and there is heaps of information on things to do in London and the UK. Discounts on some sights including the London Eye were handy. We had a weekly tube ticket which meant we could get anywhere quickly and easily from the hostel. The included breakfast was a great start to the day, I would definitely stay here again the best Hostel we stayed at in Europe on a six week trip.

I loved this hostel; I just hated the city of London. This hostel is only a few minutes walk from Kings Cross, Euston and St. Pancras stations. The tube is close by and buses to many parts of London stop right outside. It's also within walking distance of Camden town, a part of London I did enjoy, the university campus and museums, Bloomsbury and it is opposite the British Library. This is a very modern and new hostel and it was clean and bright. A cooked or continental breakfast is provided and meals can be bought — the food isn't great, though. The reception/lounge area was really comfortable, and my four-bed female dorm was big, spacious and had lockers for each bed. Despite being on a main road, the hostel was very quiet. Security levels were high. Although at first the hostel seemed to be quite big and impersonal, I met some really cool people here. If I ever have to stay in London again I would return here.

Spot on for location, as you can get to all the big attractions really easily from Kings Cross/St Pancras station, which is opposite the hostel.
