If you like to sleep at night then this is not the hostel for you. It lies in the middle of Salta's main restaurant, bar, and night-club district. With the late hours that Argentineans keep, this means that it is noisy outside until dawn, so you may want to adopt an "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" attitude. Speaking of Argentineans, this is a place where young vacationing Argentineans stay, so you will get a good chance to practise your Spanish here.
The rooms are clean, with optional bathroom. The showers tend to be hottish, but not quite as hot as you might like. The hostel is quite subdued, because the common area is not conducive to socialising. Basic breakfast is included in a cramped kitchen which you can use to cook your own meals. There is one free Internet terminal, often used by the staff for online chats, and - for the English speaking - an almost useless book exchange.
The hostel is a long way from the bus terminal, so you are best to take a taxi there for less than 5 pesos. If a tout from the hostel meets you at the bus terminal, he will arrange to pay the taxi fare for you. If you are staying in Salta only overnight, awaiting bus connections you would do better with a hostel near the station.
