This hostel should be avoided at all cost! Even if it means sleeping across the road with the Aboriginal's. At least you'll be able to have a drink with friendly people and the ground is probably cleaner than the bed sheets in the lodge anyhow. The owners Frances and Max will not make you feel welcome and are more concerned with taking your money, If you stay long enough they will vary the weekly rate as they seem fit. If you want to work for them for free you might get a discount if your lucky. The rooms are infested with bedbugs, cockroaches, and mice! The owners will give you a wake up call every now and then by opening your room door and walking in unannounced, usually to tell you to take your washing out of the washing machine that you just paid $3 to use so they can wash month old bed sheets. Don't fart as they will hear it and kick you out, in fact if they don't like the look of you or you disagree with them you will be kicked out. don't risk it!. — Oxman (2007-04-27)

I think this place was a lovely place dont know what people are on about..I stayed here for 3 months and visited a load of other hostels which were absolutely horrible Frances is the nicest woman you can meet and would bend over backwards for you I reckon the people who wrote the last comments were probably filthy dirty and carried all kinds of diseases the sheets are changed everyday you have a tv in your room and probably a fridge..The other people who stay there are absolutely lovely it was like having a family away from home..you are not squshed in together like sardines I would have no preobelm in recommending this hostel and I definitely wouldnt stay anywhere else and as for the twaits who talk about people like that get a life you in a hostel not a hotel it is definitely the best hostel in Perth and is cleaned spotless everyday.. — Siobhan Alma (2005-12-20)
I would never stay in this hostel again. Not only was the place infested with flies, the bed linen was never washed, and the kitchen was filthy. The owner was a dramatic old bag who suffers from Alzheimer's. She wanted nothing more than money and kept increasing the rent, but if you cleaned or helped out around the pigsty, she would knock off a few dollars off the price!!! The best thing about this place was the aborigines living across the road! Never before had I to keep my flip-flops on while in the shower, and wipe my feet on the way out the door...and if you think nothing of yourself, there is no better place to stay in Perth. — Ann (2005-11-01)
I have managed hostels for the past four years, and I arrived at midnight and phoned from the airport. The person said I could have a late checkout, as I did not arrive until late. The next morning I was being told to check in for another day or leave. Frances the owner is a stuck up money-grabbing cow and is so arrogant it is unreal. When I checked out she tried to say I had not given her a key deposit and she was reluctant to give me back my $20. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I just wish Lonely Planet would do a mystery guest visit here so that it can be put down in the next issue of places not to stay. With different management and a paint job inside and some new furniture, not the stuff from the 60's as it is at the moment, this could be a great place. — Paul (2005-05-14)
This is a very poor hostel. The sheets hadn't been washed, and it has pushy owners. I would never stay here again! — Anonymous (2004-10-02)
