New building, new management, brilliant value This is a new Hostel -- opened late 2009? -- and the guys working there are keeping the place looking sharp. Has to be one of the cleanest hostels I have ever been in! Huge dorm rooms and a massive, very well lit common area. Plenty of space to chill, or socialise, depending on your MO -- you choose. Very popular destination; they are visited by plenty of backpacker bus tours on most nights ('cept Wednesday and Friday, from what I picked up) so there is a chance you will bump into them on certain week nights. And yeah, they can get a little upbeat, but that is no problem if that is what you like. Port Campbell itself is in an unreal location -- right in middle of the big coastal attractions along the Great Ocean Road. 12 Apostles about 10 minute drive east. London Bridge even less, to Port Campbell's west. And plenty of other things to see in between (ask tony at reception counter for his "you didn't find this info from me" suggested things to see and do 'tour' of the coastline around Port Campbell. What he may "suggest" you take the time to see around there will blow you away. And it will be info that you will NOT gain from from any other source. (Think "locals only" knowledge about double-bay track, Two-mile bay, a cool tunnel at gibstone beach, and little penguins at London Bridge). Come prepared -- what he will recommend will require reasonable sturdy footwear, so don't be a d*ckhead and wear flip-flops. You will twist your ankle. (As one of the girls I was with did!). It will not cost you anything except your time. — Anonymous , Australia (2011-03-25)

Average sterile atmosphere. Nothing special, but they said they are building a new building right now. The staff are friendly. — Ben , Germany (2009-01-31)

Clean and tidy hostel. Kitchen was big with lots of room to cook. Beds were clean and comfortable. Obviously very popular, so i would recommend booking. Walking distance to beach and shop -- Port Campbell itself was a cute little seaside town. Remember to take a coat because it was cold and windy. Lovely place to stop. — Sophie (2006-06-14)
This is no longer the YHA -- and doesn't it just show. The staff were incredibly unhelpful and rude -- almost as if the guests were a hiindrance to being open. Only two showers for about fifty people -- hot water ran out. They obviously rely on trade from Great Ocean Road tour groups, as they were very rude to independent travellers. Would definitely not recommend here. A real shame as Port Campbell is lovely. — Claire (2006-04-27)

This is a clean and tidy hostel, a little shabby on the outside but great for a night's stop off. It is close to all amenities and very near the beach. The kitchen is right outside reception so it is always clean. Tours often come here so it is wise to book in advance. Be warned the police hide behind bushes in and around Port Campbell, so stick to the speed limits. — Anonymous (2005-02-12)
