I really enjoyed the stay, but keep off their smoking habits We stayed there for about a week in 2002. Really good food really nice cabins and a perfect stay for me and my then at the time boyfriend. We enjoyed everything and we were happy with everything. There were a lot of activities and a minor storm one day. A warning though do not buy or taste any of their smoking marijuana, it is really strong stuff and not for girls. (only for experienced male marijuana smokers.) Keep to the food which was really good and well tasting. — Tenna Maiken Jensen , Denmark (2008-08-24)

The location is absolutely great and the resort is beautiful. Still, me and another guy were the only guests when I was there, so I was alone in a twenty-six-bed-dorm. Very peaceful and quiet, if you simply want to relax, this is for you. — Judith , Germany (2007-05-21)
I stayed at David's Place in Oct. 2006 and I think management must have changed recently. There seemed to be a lot of tension between the staff and most seemed rather put out by our questions/requests. The bar was only open during meal times, so we started buying water and beer at the Coral View Resort on the other side of the island since they seemed happy to take our money, rather than inconvenienced. We met a couple that had been there the year before and loved it, but said that things had changed since then. On our second night, eleven people decided to leave the next day, even though they had paid for more nights. We also left after four days, after paying for six. All in all, it is a hostel, not a five-star (or even one-star) resort. If the people were all they had going for them, they pretty much have nothing going for them now. For a bit more money, you can stay someplace better. It wasn't a bad place altogether. It would be a nice place to spend a night or two to explore this island group. There is snorkeling down the beach, the resort itself is clean but rustic. There was no buffet, but the food better than some of the nearby resorts. For $15 - $35 you can get a round trip to any of the other islands nearby. The $35 trip gets you a guided tour of the caves in the morning and a trip to the Blue Lagoon in the afternoon. — Sonia (2006-11-09)

I stayed at Davids place in June 2003 and had the best time of my life. Food was great, accommodation good, beaches just wonderful, but what makes Davids place stand out from all the rest are the staff. They are the friendliest bunch of people I have ever met. They would do anything for you. — Gordie from Glasgow, Scotland (2006-03-20)

The islands are a lot more basic in terms of their facilities than the main island, but Davids place is a fantastic place once you get over that! The staff are really friendly and their is a great atmosphere as everyone eats together. There are lots of trips offered which are great fun! Food is delicious and views fantastic. — Anon (2005-12-04)

Bula, David's Place rocks!!! Everything was great, from the accommodation to the food. The staff made our week. We have never stayed somewhere where the staff were so friendly!! — Matt & Carly (2005-09-01)

This is the most amazing resort we've been to because of its wonderful beaches and friendly staff. We will go back at some stage. You can relax in your hammock under a tree, next to the beach, and read a book. Thanks a million for a great time. — Mark Quigley & Maura Foley. (Cork, Ireland) (2005-06-11)

I stayed at David's Place back in 2002 and had the most amazing time! The beaches, the bures, the dancing, the kava, the trips — it's so fantastic. If I could live there I would! Everyone is so friendly and we met a wicked group of people. We were only staying for 3 nights but ended up staying another week. If you're going to Fiji it's so worth a visit! — Michelle from Letchworth (2005-06-08)

Bula!! We stayed here in April 2005 in a bure by the beach and had a fantastic time despite there being a tropical storm! Turtle Island is opposite, so instead of £800 a night, it's £20 with food and accommodation. It's fabulous! The snorkeling off the island is better than the "Blue Lagoon" and you can go diving, which was like nothing I had seen before as the coral was just so fluorescent. The staff are so welcoming and make you feel so much s part of the island — serenading you goodnight, taking you on walks and doing everything they can to make you feel at home. On our first night the children of the village came and sang for us. It was just so lovely I wish I was there now! — Anonymous (2005-05-05)

I love getting up the morning to the crashing of waves rather than the crashing of cars in the city. This is a wicked place to unwind and relax and breathe that fresh air day and night. The food is not bad. It could be better but who cares. The beach — you have got to be there to experience its beauty. All in all I'd live there any day. You've got to have that kava at nights, it's mozzy [mosquito] repellent for island life. — J.J. Doughty, Melbourne, Australia (2005-04-15)

We spent four nights at David's Place in February 2005. We really did have a fantastic time and would totally recommend it. Fussy eaters may not like the food. The beach was incredible with excellent snorkeling. There are lots of activities, which are reasonably priced. Most importantly, the staff are really friendly (especially Ben) and we enjoyed the nightly entertainment — Bula Dance, crab racing, kava drinking, musical chairs, etc. I wish we had stayed longer!! — Julie and Daryl (N. Ireland) (2005-02-08)

Bula, bula [hello], I hope you got my ukulele. I'll always miss the serenading! I had the best time of my life here. I'll be back soon. Keep dancing, keep singing, keep it rocking. — Flo (2005-01-20)

This is an excellent value! You get a hammock and a bure (bungalow) right by the beach. The location is beyond words. There are tons of things to do in the area as well, or you can just lie on the beach. The Lovo Night is excellent, but they can work on the rest of the food (that's the only drawback). Enjoy! — Anna G (2004-12-07)

We spent eight nights here last year. Although the food wasn't great, we had a ball. The staff were great, so friendly and helpful. The snorkelling was great, too. "Bula" (Hello) David's Place!! — Lena (2004-09-25)

This place is great! The staff are so friendly, and the food was lovely! We met loads of nice people during the nightly bula dance! It was heaven, compared to Nadi! We definitely recommend a trip to the paradise that is David's Place! — Matt and Nicky (2004-08-05)
