HI - Santiago - Che Lagarto Hostel

Good vibe hostel
I stayed for five days on the Santiago Che Lagarto and I can say that the accommodations were fine, good common area, nice kitchen to cook and keep chatting, and friendly staff. The main problems was that the rooms were too cold (they said that the heaters would be used on july and august), but apart from that, I recommend and would stay again there. Location is very good.

Welcoming and friendly
Me and my fiance recently stayed here on three separate occasions whilst in Chile. And in total, we tried three different bedrooms, an en-suite double, a four-bed dorm, and a triple room. The double was cosy and had lots of room for all our stuff, but the toilet leaked (however they temporarily mended it). The dorm room was quite small but had a pretty balcony and a couple of individual lockers. The triple room was large but only had a tiny window and felt like it was in the cellar. However we shared a large bathroom with only one other room. The staff were extremely helpful and considerate, even when they'd double booked our room. Breakfast was delicious but served quite late (9 a.m.) -- so not any good if you had an early start. Plenty of different rooms to chill out in and a great social atmosphere. However, there wasn't enough staff on reception to deal with the numbers of guests. Great location for food shopping and the underground.

Not recommended
somebody cracked my lock as well in the "safe" luggage store. what a shame, could be a nice hostel, but definitely not worth it when the staff steals your money!

well this is certanly not a hostel to go to if you wanna sleep, clean dunno 24/7 cleaning staff??? ... they must be busy with other stuff but cleaning. oh and dont believe the girls at the reception that it would be absolutly safe to store your backpack for a few hours.... some asshole will crack the locks on it and steal your stuff... bring it across the road to the bus station...

I really liked this hostel... good location, clean and a good dorm room. I could have done with an extra bathroom or two. Nice breakfast... I recommend it!!

Lovely staff and common areas, but our room was freezing and the roof leaked! The location isn't so good as it's very noisy at all times of the night due to the bus station across the road.

I loved everything about this place except our room. It was nothing more than four walls with a blocked up window and a bed. Compared to the rest of the place our room was very poor, but if you can get a better room this is a good place to stay.
