Welcome to Sh*tty and Surf. We have indoor waterfalls when it's raining (bring your raincoats if you want to sit around indoors), a thick, clear scum that coats the bathrooms, and a complete lack of any staff. Handy hint -- if you want to stay for free, just come in after 6 and crash on the couch. No one will care. Smoke inside if you want. Help yourself to the free tea or coffee (but please mind the bugs) and please don't feed the rats that live under our fridge. They may seem cute and cuddly, but remember they are wild animals and deserve to be left alone. Please, no pets (the rats just hate the competition and we've had some cats go missing recently). If you love to wake up every morning to find your food missing, and just want to meet some really, really strange, non-backpacking people, this place is for you. Twelve stars all the way.

This place is good, clean and welcoming to backpackers with all the freebies. It doesn't pretend to be something it is not. It's close to everything, and it's a good value. We enjoyed our stay. Good luck to the new management.
