The Hostelz.com Review
Wow is a great word to describe Coffs Harbour YHA Backpackers Resort. This hostel is brand new. It was built from scratch (it didn't take over a previously occupied building) and opened in December 2004.

All areas of the hostel are immaculate, from the kitchen to the common area to the rooms and bathrooms. Bathrooms are only accesible by key card access and are gender-coded. This means that men can not access the female bathrooms and vice versa. The rooms contain brand-new bunk beds and large cabinets that can be locked if you have your own padlock.

The kitchen has plenty of room for everyone's food. There is a huge walk-in fridge and another regular fridge. The kitchen is always very neat and clean, even during busy times.

The hostel has an overall cheery feeling. The dining room lists the activities for the week. There are quite a few cheap BBQs and other activities throughout the week. The hostel is decorated with photographs and maps of Australia. It is a fun and social place, but it is neither very loud nor was it only a place to party. This is an ideal place for families and backpackers alike. The hostel is within walking distance of the beach. Free parking is available in the back.

All too new and clinical. Doesnt have a friendly hostel atmosphere, more like a hotel with shared rooms. The room wasnt anything special either. Location -- a bit out of town.

I stayed in a double room in this hostel in June 2005. The room was nice enough but it had only one very small light and we couldn't see a thing! For the money you pay for a double, you are MUCH BETTER off going to a hotel. If you are looking for a clean place to stay you might enjoy this hostel, but for fun you should look elsewhere!

This hostel is very, very sterile.

The twin rooms were small, and the bathrooms were very small, with few facilties. The staff were helpful and friendly, which is a bonus. However, beware of having to pay to stay at the hostel after check-out. If you are getting a late overnight bus you have to pay a full night's rent, even if you are not staying. That said, though, the staff are very friendly.

Nice and clean hostel with very friendly staff. Rooms are a little on the small side but I have stayed in smaller. Nice atmosphere.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The building was clean and bright, as were the dorms, which were also spacious and comfortable.
