The Safari backpackers YHA is actually made up of two buildings. The hostel is the first building, while the reception and a separate motel are in the other building across the road. The hostel lies in quiet surroundings (like anywhere in Tennant Creek), but there are some basic supplies at the reception.
The condition of the hostel as a whole is not bad. The place is clean and the kitchen is small, but it's enough to cook a meal. The showers are nice, and there is a towel available at each shower. There is a nice sitting area outside where you can sit in the evening and watch the sunset. If you're here with your car, there is more than enough parking, just beside the hostel.
The rooms are often not completely full, so you may have more room for yourself. The beds are basic, but comfortable with good mattresses. The hostel also has a small common room, with an old TV and a few sofas. However, the best thing about this hostel is that it is very inexpensive, and for the price this hostel is a nice, basic place to stop for the night before continuing driving to your destination.
